3GENERAL CONDITIONS
The Temuka & Geraldine A & P Association hereby adopts By-laws
of the Royal Agricultural Society, and agrees to abide by these By-
laws, which are available for inspection on request from the
Secretary. All entries to be accepted on these conditions:
1. Exhibits must be on the Showgrounds & ready for Judging at
the following times:
Wednesday 28 Feb: White Wool 10.am, Judging Friday 1 March
Friday 1 March: Black & Coloured Wool 10am, Shed 5.30pm
Saturday: Horses & Ponies 8.00am, Geraldine PC Trophy 7.45am
Sheep, Goats 9am, Vegetables, Grain & Seed 9.30am,
2. Gate Passes will be allocated to exhibitors who have paid $8.00
or more in entry fees.
3. Cups and Trophies may be presented on Show Day and
photographed but must be handed back immediately.
4. All prizes not claimed within six months after the date of the Show
will be forfeited to the Association.
5. Refunds: 80% of Entry Fee on production of a Veterinary Certificate
& Doctor’s Certificate or at discretion of the organising committee
(on the day of the show).
6. Allocation of Points: Standard Points: First 6 points; Second 4
points; Third 2 points; V H C 1 point (no points if less than five
entries.) Champions 2 points; Reserve Champion 1 point extra. In
the event of no competition, only half points awarded. Competition
means two or more exhibitors, whose exhibits are judged
competing for the prize or prizes in the particular class for which
prizes are awarded. Ties to count 1 win each. For points prizes no
additional points will be awarded for Supreme or Grand Champion.
In the event of two exhibitors or more gaining equal points, the
exhibitor gaining most first prizes will be declared the winner. If
points are still equal the exhibitor being awarded most
championships will be declared the winner.
7. All exhibits must be the bona fide property of the exhibitor & the
exhibitor must have grown all produce. All stock must be the
property of the exhibitor 30 days prior to the official date of entries
closing & in the case of Sheep, exhibitors must own a registered
brand. The pet lamb classes are exempt from this condition.
8. Where a Class has an age qualification, this is 1 March.
9. Improper Conduct: Any exhibitor or other person interfering or
using insulting or improper language to a Judge or any other Officer
of the Association, in regard to the execution of their duty, or being
guilty of improper conduct on the Show Ground, may be
disqualified from exhibiting at future Shows of the Association, and,
if a prize taker, shall be liable to have all his unpaid prize forfeited
at the discretion of the Committee of the Association whose
decision is final.
10. Disqualified Persons: Should any person or firm be disqualified or
suspended by a kindred or Metropolitan Association, the
Committee of the Association shall have power to endorse such
disqualification or suspension, should they see fit.
11. All protests must be in writing, and may be lodged with the chief
executive within one hour from the completion of the class judged,
together with a deposit of Horse Section $50.00 cash, Cattle and
Sheep Section $20.00 cash and all other sections $10.00 cash
which shall be returned should the protest be sustained.
If the protest be lodged before the judges proceed to their duties,
the onus of proof will rest with the exhibitor, if after that the onus of
proof will be with the party protesting.
4No protest will be received later than one hour after the prize
tickets are affixed. The committee, or not less than five members
thereof, will decide all protests as soon as practicable, and there
shall be no appeal from their decision.
12. Exhibitors may arrange for SALE OF STOCK, etc, but sale shall
not take place prior to 4.00pm unless the Executive give a
consent in writing, signed by the Secretary. No advertising
allowed. No stock shall be removed from the ground until after
3.30pm. NOTE: All stock entries can be removed from grounds
after 3.30pm; all other sections must not be uplifted till after
4.00pm. Permission to remove exhibits from any classes before
stated times must be obtained from the Secretary & only
considered in special circumstances.
13. The Association will not be responsible for any accident, loss or
damage that may be caused to or suffered by any exhibit, or
which may be caused directly by any other exhibit,
notwithstanding any alleged negligence on the part of any officer
or servant of the Association & it shall be condition of entry that
each exhibitor shall hold the Association indemnified against any
class in respect of any such accident, loss or damage caused by
any exhibit of such exhibitor.
14. The Committee will not, under any circumstances, hold
themselves responsible for the loss, damage or mis-delivery of
stock, produce, goods etc exhibited at the show.
15. Exhibitors & spectators are advised that the Association carries
a Public Insurance Risk Policy for the day of the Show.
16. The Association holds records of names & addresses of all
Members & Exhibitors.
IMPORTANT HEALTH AND SAFETY INFORMATION
FOR EXHIBITORS AND COMPETITORS.
• Livestock exhibitors and competitors must follow the instructions
of Marshals and Officials.
• Exhibitors and competitors are responsible for ensuring their
animals are kept in control at all times.
• The Temuka & Geraldine A&P Association reserves the right to
order immediate removal from the Showgrounds of any animal it
considers dangerous, unruly or unmanageable.
• Livestock exhibitors must ensure they keep walkways clear and
no dangerous equipment or chemicals are accessible to the
public.
5WOOL
FLEECE WOOL COMPETITION

White Fleece to be in Wednesday 28 FEB BY 10AM
ALL WOOL JUDGED FRIDAY 1 MARCH AT 10AM
CONDITIONS:
1. All Fleeces to be properly skirted as required by trade. Only wool
off sheep in the current season is eligible for competition.
2. The Judge may at his discretion, change fleeces from one class
to their correct class without prejudice to the exhibitor.
3. Growers who have their exhibits changed are to apply to the
section steward in charge, who will inform them where their
exhibits have been placed.
4. All fleeces must be the property of the bona fide farmer, but it is
not necessary that the exhibitor be the breeder of the sheep.
5. Fleeces must not be removed before 4.00 pm & then only under
the supervision of a class steward.

at each show (without payment of entry fees). Fleeces will be judged
at both Mayfield and Temuka & Geraldine with points aggregated
together for an overall winner.

7SHEEP

CONDITIONS:
1. The giving of a prize to a sheep shall imply that the judges are
satisfied that such sheep is fairly shorn or trimmed.
2. DEFINITION OF A HOGGET: A sheep born after July 1st in any one
year shall be considered a Hogget up to and including December
31 in the following year, except in the case of the Dorset Horn &
Poll Dorset sheep when May 1st should be substituted for July 1st.
3. Hoggets are now eligible for Championship Judging.
4. All sheep in Pedigree Shorn Classes must be shorn not earlier than
July 20, unless otherwise stated.
5. Championships will only be awarded as provided where there are
at least three exhibitors, unless in the opinion of the Judge, an
animal is deemed worthy of the award but medals may only be
given where there are three or more exhibitors. In such cases
certificate will be issued.
6. No stud sheep or lambs, rams or rigs admitted in Prime Stock
Classes.
7. Breeding to be stated on entry forms in Prime Stock Classes.
8. Judges will be instructed not to award prizes to sheep which they
consider unfairly shorn or excessively trimmed or excessively
coloured: also to disqualify sheep which are unfairly presented.
9. All male animals only from brucellosis accredited free flocks will be
allowed on the Showground.
10. ALL SHEEP TO BE PENNED BY 9.30am.

CONDITIONS:
1. All entries must be made in the name of bona fide owner(s).
Full name of the goat and registered number, date of birth, sire’s
name and number, Dam’s name and number to be given at the
time of entry. Associated Record Entries may state “unknown” for
sire or dam.
2. All goats must be Registered or Recorded.
3. Animals entered in special classes must have been exhibited in
their appropriate standard age class.
4. No person being a member of the family or an employee of the
Official Judge, shall be entitled to exhibit.
5. The age of the goat will be taken on the day of judging.
6. Goats which gained their GCH or AGCH awards are not eligible
to compete in the normal standard age classes. They may
compete in the Grand Champion Class and other Special
Classes.
7. All goats to be exhibited must be penned by 9.30am on Saturday.
8. No entire male goat will be admitted to the Show grounds.
9. BREED AWARDS. To be awarded only if the animal is deemed
worthy and is not already eligible for a Breed Champion prefix or
is a BCH.

2108 SENIOR PROGENY GROUP. Two daughters in milk of the
same sire but different dams. Names of sire & dams to be
given on entry form.
2109 DAM & DAUGHTER(S) Dam and 1 or more female progeny
all in milk to be judged on the dam’s worth as a breeding
matron.
2110 H R TYPE & PRODUCTION 1. Rules as per PREMIER &
NZDGBA regulations.
2111 A R TYPE & PRODUCTION 1. Rules as per PREMIER &
NZDGBA regulations.
2112 H R BEST UDDER. Open to all does who have borne a kid.
To be judged when full and again when stripped out. Points
awarded for both full and empty udder to be totaled to
determine the prize winners. (Does must be finally stripped
prior to entering the ring for the empty udder judging)
2113 A R BEST UDDER. (Conditions same as Class 2112)
JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP CLASSES
2114 JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP for young person’s 15yrs and
under. To be judged on exhibitor’s ability to lead, place, turn,
stop and start their goat. To answer questions. Show
preparation and appearance of booth goat and handler to be
taken into account. Points towards national trophy 1st 6, 2nd
4, 3rd 2. Exhibitors age to be included on entry form.
2115 JUNIOR HERDSPERSON for young people 16 yrs up to 25
yrs. To be judged on presentation and knowledge of the
anatomy of the animal and the handling and health of the
adult goat. Does not have to belong to the exhibitor.

1. The shed will be closed to all people while judging commences
from 6:00pm Friday 1st March
2. All judging will be carried out on Friday night before the show and
wrapped and exhibited for the Saturday Show. This included

3. No late entries will be judged
4. Any exhibit not up to standard will not be considered for judging.
5. Judge has the right to taste all exhibits.
6. To be judged on standards set out in the Handbook for Exhibits

Equestrian Rule Book and guidelines.
YOUR SIGNATURE ON THE ENTRY FORM DENOTES
ACCEPTANCE OF THESE CONDITIONS.
1. LEASE OR PARTNERSHIP OF HORSES: A lease or partnership
of a Horse must be registered with the Royal Agricultural Society.
Proof of registration must be available on request.
2. District Classes require exhibitor, to reside in the Timaru District
Council area.
3. Horses must be exercised only in the areas provided or they will
be disqualified.
4. Height and Performance cards to be carried at all times (refer
rule 67, RAS Rule Book). Measuring will NOT take place on
show day – only Friday 1st March 4PM-6PM.
5. Please note that a record of wins will be asked for. Horse/Pony
height and performance cards must be carried. Failure to do so
will result in elimination. All wins in Novice Classes within each
division count and must be recorded. Should a Novice Horse win
an Open conformation class including Ladies or Gentlemen
classes, these wins must also be recorded. Once a horse has
achieved 6 wins (or 3 wins for Novice 1) in either conformation
classes or paced and mannered classes, this horse is not eligible
to return to Novice status should it change Sections at the
beginning of a Show season – excludes Lead Rein and First
Ridden. A Novice 2 Horse or Pony is one that has not won 6 firsts
in conformation classes at any A & P Show, at the time of the
Show. (Ladies and Gentlemen Hack class wins count as an
Open Conformation Class.) A Novice 1 Horse or Pony who has
not won 3 firsts with the same rules as a Novice 2. This only
applies to A & P Shows.
Once a Horse or Pony has had 6 wins it is not eligible for Novice
Classes.
A Novice 2 in Paced and Mannered classes is a Horse or Pony
which has not won 6 firsts in Paced and/or Mannered at an A &
P Show at the time of the Show. A Novice 1 Horse or Pony has
not won 3 firsts. Novices may enter Open Classes. Novices to be
shown in simple snaffle bits only in Novice classes, except the
harness section. If a novice entry has gained 6 wins by the day
of the show, the competitor must advise the Secretary’s office
and may change to an Open Class (if qualified) within the Sub-
Section, or if no class remains to enter a refund will be actioned
after the show. Novice ponies may be ridden by riders of any age
in Novice classes but not in Open Section where the stated age
applies.
6. A competitor who requires a transfer for Horse/Pony or rider must
obtain one from the Horse Section Convener or Elimination.
7. Ground Fee: $5.00, per Horse/Pony. $2.00 Admin Fee
8. BACKNUMBERS: Only Temuka & Geraldine A & P Association
back numbers to be worn and can be collected at the Secretary’s
Office. Deposit - $7.00 per combination included with entry form
with $5 refundable on return to the secretary’s office. $2 goes
towards the judge’s travel expenses.
249. Horse/Pony not eligible to compete in more than one “height”
class.
10. In “Mare most suitable for breeding” Classes, foal at foot is
optional (the foal to be led).
11. Night accommodation for horses is available at $5 per yard.
Long distance mares with foals & stallions given preference.
PLEASE STATE REQUIREMENTS ON ENTRY FORM &
INCLUDE FEE.
12. Yards will be available on the day for young stock if required
13. 80% Refund will only be made on production of Veterinary
Certificate or Doctor’s Certificate if cancellation is made or at
discretion of organising committee. In the event of an entered
horse or pony becoming unsound prior to the show, a substitute
may be entered in the same section, ridden by same rider,
provided a vet’s certificate is produced. The Secretary to be
notified prior to the show. The Horse Section Convener’s decision
is final.
14. PRIZE WINNERS MUST PARADE IN GRAND PARADE LED
OR RIDDEN
15. Pony Riders to be under the age of 17 as of the 1st of August.
16. The use of tranquilizers, stimulants, or any drug which affects the
performance of horses or ponies is forbidden. Competitors are
advised that tests for forbidden substances may be carried out
during the show. Testing of all animals is at the owners’ risk and
will be carried out under CSJC procedures (Ref 57 RAS Showing
Rules & Regulations of Clean Sport Section of the RAS
Equestrian Rulebook). Your signature on the entry form, and/or
participation in competition denotes acceptance of these
conditions. (Ref EEFSL 2 Entry Forms of RAS Equestrian
Competitors and Judges Rule Book)
17. Electronic Devices - It is an offence for any electronic or audio
equipment to be carried on a competitor in the show ring,
deemed to be possible of outside assistance to a competitor.
Penalties may include forfeiting all prize money, awards and
qualifications and elimination from any further classes at the
show.
18. All Horses & Ponies must compete in their nominated height
section as specified on a current RAS Height Certificate for the
full season.
19. No Horse or pony to be tied to ringside fences.
20. Best Rider Classes: Rider eligible only for Riding Class in
section entered.
21. Only first prize winners from conformation classes including
ladies and gentleman’s classes are to parade for championship
consideration. Only after selecting the champion, should the
horse or pony second to the champion in the qualifying class
come forward for the judging of reserve champion.
22. Choices must be made if classes clash – no class will be held
up – no refunds.
23. “Yellow Card” “This show supports the RAS Yellow Card System
which will operate in the equestrian section of all RAS affiliated
shows and will be offered for any inappropriate behaviour
towards show officials, judges, fellow competitors or any other
third party connected with the show bringing the equestrian
discipline into disrepute, or cases which are of a less serious
nature to the above in accordance with the Conduct of Members,
Owners, Lessees, Competitors, and/or exhibitors as provided in
the RAS Equestrian Competitors and Judges Rule Book.”
Implantation of the “Yellow Card” will be

accordance of the RAS Rules that accompanied this card, and
full wording of the “Yellow Card” system is available to view on
the RAS website.
24. All stallions and colts must be shown in a bit with the exception
of Foals and Miniature Horses and Shetland Pony Yearlings. In
the case of Miniature Donkey Jacks 86cm and under, they must
be either shown in a bit or a halter with stallion chain. If utilising
the option of a halter and a stallion chain, the donkey’s original
RAS height certificate must be carried at the time to show proof
of height.
24a. A Steward will order any stallion/colt considered out of control
or to be causing undue disquiet to other horses from the ring
without recourse from the stallion/colt’s owner/
exhibitor/competitor.
24b. It is compulsory for all stallions and colts, except foals, to wear
two (2) official ‘S” identification badges, one attached to each
side of their bridle, at all Shows/Events at all times. The rider
must also wear two RAS official (2) armbands (one on each
