Ipswich Annual Show will be held at the Ipswich Showgrounds from 14th 15th 16th MAY 2021.

    The Ipswich Show is one of the largest regional shows in Queensland and this year will be
                               celebrating our 148th Annual Show.

  The Members of the Ipswich Show Society thank all our many Corporate Partners, Sponsors,
Trophy Donors, and competitors for their valued support. Without your support, and the support
              from the local and wider community, this event could not continue.

 The President and Members of the Ipswich Show Society thank the Queensland Government for

General Conditions
                           GENERAL CONDITIONS OF ENTRY AND COMPETITION
This Show is conducted subject to the rules of the Queensland Chamber of Agricultural Societies, the
constitution and rules of this Society and any regulation which appears within the Schedule for individual
sections of this Show. Should there be any conflict between the rules of the Queensland Chamber of
Agricultural Societies, the constitution and rules of this society and the regulations appearing in any
schedule, the constitution, rules and regulations appearing in the schedule of this Society shall prevail,

All persons upon entering any class in this Schedule agree to indemnify the IPSWICH SHOW SOCIETY against
liability for any accident, damage, loss or illness to any Exhibit, Exhibitor or Competitor and agree that all
Competitions are under the complete and total control of the IPSWICH SHOW SOCIETY whose decision in all
matters is final.

                                         THE IPSWICH SHOW SOCIETY
a)   Will appoint a Chief Steward to each section as its representative in all matters. Failure to comply with
     lawful directions from appointed Stewards, Committee or Staff or use of verbal or physical abuse will
     result in Disciplinary Action which may include exclusion from further Competitions and/or the Ipswich
     Showgrounds.
b)   Will appoint Judges whose decisions are final and for which no verbal or written communication will be
     accepted or entered into.
c)   Reserves the right to make any decisions, inclusions or changes to this Schedule including Conditions of
     Entry as it may deem fitting without further notice.
d)   Entering of Competitions does not constitute free admission entry into the Ipswich Show.
e)   By way of entering for this Competition exhibitors acknowledge that they are compliant with these
     Conditions.

                                      ANIMAL/s AND BIRD/S EXHIBITORS
•    All animal/s and bird/s exhibitors must sign an EXHIBIT HEALTH DECLARATION upon delivery of entry
     and must comply with the health requirements detailed in this document.
•    Exhibit Health Declarations are available at the Show Office or Website www.ipswichshow.com.au
•    All Veterinarian fees are the responsibility of the Owner of the animal. Ipswich Show will not take
     responsibility for any veterinarian fees.

                                    CONDITIONS OF ENTRY INTO GROUNDS
•    Terms & Conditions located at front Gate Entry.
•    No Glass is to be brought on the Grounds. (Other than entries into sections that require glass jars/bottles.)
•    All electrical leads must be tagged in accordance with the relevant industrial regulations.

                                          PRIVACY STATEMENT
The information provided by you in any application for membership or application to enter is used by the
Ipswich Show Society to offer member services or to organise and conduct competitions at the Ipswich
Show. By applying for membership or entering our competitions you consent to provide such details as
your name, address and exhibit details. Competition information may be made available to the media and
included in Ipswich Show publications. Your information will not be disclosed without your consent for any
other purpose unless required by law.

Please be aware that you, upon entering the Showgrounds, must follow all directives supported by legislation.
including the WHS ACT and Regulations, COVID 19 Emergency Response ACT 2020 and all QCAS Member Societies
and Sub Chambers.
COMMISSION ON SALES
A commission of 2% on sales of exhibits, excepting Dogs and Poultry, which will be 5% effected either on the Ground or
elsewhere, during the week of the Show, shall be paid to the Society by the Sellers or their agents.

PLEASE READ THI S IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
❖ Horse nomination Point shall be in front of the brick building in assembly yards.
❖ Entries will be taken up to thirty (30) minutes before the time of the event as shown in the Prize Schedule.
❖ The Exhibitor will be requested to complete an entry card clearly stating Class Number. Hand the card with the entry fee to
  the Entry Steward who will stamp the card "PAID" and initial Class No. The Card will be returned to the Exhibitor.
  REMEMBER – ONE CARD FOR EVERY ENTRY
❖ The Card will be collected by the Ring Steward just prior to the judging of the event. It is essential that every exhibitor have
  the correct card as the Steward will be forced to ask the exhibitor to leave the Ring should the exhibitor not be able to hand
  the correct card duly stamped "PAID" to him.
❖ Entry card may be obtained from the Secretary's Office prior to the Show.
❖ ALL HANDLERS AND ASSISTANTS MUST BE SUITABLY ATTIRED WHILE IN THE ASSEMBLY YARD AND JUDGING RINGS.
❖ JUDGES AND EXHIBITORS TO WEAR SUITABLE HATS WHEN IN THE RING AT ALL TIMES. (SHORTS, SINGLETS, THONGS,
  JOGGERS AND SIMILAR ATTIRE NOT PERMITTED)
❖ All Horses wishing to be entered in Breed classes must be registered with a recognized Society for that Breed. Registration
  papers must be able to be produced on request. Failure to produce registration papers will result in the entry being
  excluded from judging and nomination fee forfeited.

REGULATIONS
TO AVOID MISUNDERSTANDING, COMPETITORS ARE REQUESTED TO READ THESE REGULATIONS CAREFULLY
1.    The show is conducted under the by-laws and regulations of the Queensland Chamber of Agricultural Societies
      and have been adopted by this society and shall apply except where they have been modified or added to by
      the Ipswich Show Society.
2.    The Ipswich Show Society assumes no responsibility or liability for injury or damage to the person, property or
      stock of any owner, contestant or assistant. Each participant, by the act of his entry waives all claims against the
      society for injuries his or her property may sustain. Every care will be taken of exhibits, but the committee shall
      not be responsible for any damage, loss or death. The society will not, under any circumstances hold itself
      responsible for any legal proceedings which may arise from loss, damage, or death of or mis-delivery of any
      exhibits.
3.    As stabling is at a minimum, stables will not be provided for horses not competing at the show. This
      regulation will be strictly enforced.
4.    No ring shall be required to wait for a competitor who may be competing in another ring.
5.    Exhibitor shall at all times, behave in a proper and courteous manner to Judges, Show Officials and other
      Exhibitors. Should any Exhibitor behave in an offensive or improper manner, the Committee person in charge or
      Steward in the section shall have the right to exclude and disqualify that Exhibitor from competing in the
      section. The person or persons refusing to comply with the Steward, shall be liable at the discretion of the
      committee, to a penalty not exceeding $100.00 or otherwise, may be disqualified for any period, or may be
      expelled from the grounds, together with his/her or their exhibits. OBSCENE AND ABUSIVE LANGUAGE WILL
      NOT BE TOLERATED.
6.    No dispute to be considered whilst event is in progress. Protests to be lodged in writing AFTER EVENT
      COMPLETED and must be handed to the Secretary and accompanied by a fee of $100.00 within half an hour of
      completion of event. If the protest is considered frivolous by the DISPUTES COMMITTEE the deposit maybe
      forfeited. In the hearing of all protests and disputes arising out of an award, the Committee shall abide by the
      Judges Award, unless it be shown that the Judge has been willfully or accidentally misled. THE DECISION OF THE
      DISPUTE COMMITTEE SHALL BE FINAL (ANY THREE TO ACT)
7.    Age of all horses to be computed as at first day of August. Every horse foaled before 1st August in any year shall
      be deemed to be one year old on that date. Age of STANDARD BRED horses only to be computed as from 1st
      September.
8.    Horse’s names must be given on the entry card for each event.
9.    Any horse and/or rider entering the ring without having this entry card will not be judged.
10.   One handler only per horse allowed in ring.
11.   No unauthorised person allowed inside ring boundary at all times. Workplace Health & Safety requirements.
12.   Grooms, competitors and others in charge of exhibits must obey the orders of the Stewards or they will be fined
      and/or ejected from the grounds.
13.   For Champion prizes, all first prize winners of the breed and sex to compete. After selecting the Champion, the
      Judge will be required to select an animal for Reserve which shall take the place of the Champion in the event of
      the latter being disqualified, for any cause. The Reserve to be selected from the remaining first prize animals
      together with the second prize winner of the class which furnished the Champion.
14.   Judges may with-hold Champion or first prize Ribbon from any exhibit they consider not of sufficient quality.
15.   Entry fees may be refunded only in special circumstances.
16.   The Committee reserve the right to alter the time or order of an event in the Schedule.
17.   The Committee reserves the right to withdraw any entry in any event no reason needs be given for their actions.
18.   The Committee reserves the right to cancel or reduce the prize money through lack of competition.
19.   An exhibitor shall ensure that horse and competitor are entered and shown only in the correct class.
20. Competitors in ring events must have their horses in the assembly yard not later than 15 minutes prior to the
      commencement of the event. They will be called twice over the public address system prior to the holding of
      the event in which they are nominated. If they do not appear, the event will proceed in their absence.
21.   No entry fee shall be repayable by the Society in respect of any entry that maybe withdrawn or cancelled or in
      respect of any exhibit which may be disqualified.
22.   The Society and any Steward servant or agent of the Society shall not be liable to an exhibitor for the death of or
      for any injury damage or infection which may be sustained by his exhibit occasioned by or arising out of any act
      or omission of any Steward servant or agent off the Society during the course of the testing of the exhibit
      whether due to the negligence of any such Steward servant or agent or otherwise.
23.   Exhibitors will render themselves liable to a penalty of $50.00 by removing an official placard, ticket or ribbon
      affixed or posted by the stewards; or by affixing any other placard, ticket or ribbon in lieu thereof, or by refusing
      in any way to carry out the instructions; and the stewards shall incur no responsibility enforcing these
      regulations.
24.   It is recommended that signing performance cards be signed by the steward rather than the judge during the
      continuance of the Show.
25.   The Official Measurer (L N Grieve - Ipswich) may measure horses when required.
26.   All horses must be free from hereditary unsoundness.
27.   All colts and stallions - 2 years and over, must be led in a bit or adequate strong head stall.
28.   If a dispute arises as to the age of a competitor, the only proof of age accepted will be a birth certificate.
29.   All riders to be approved by the Stewards.
30.   Competitors to obey the red coats while exhibiting in the ring.
31.   Competitors are advised that ALL HORSES GALLOWAYS AND PONIES in hack events are to have one rider in
      SUPREME CHAMPIONSHIP ONLY. Riders May Ride More Than One Horse If Qualified for Any other
      Championship.
32.   Stallions are not permitted in Hack classes.
33.   A Maiden is a Horse or pony that has not won a First prize in a similar event at an Agricultural Show. If by the
      time of Judging, Stewards are not notified by the Exhibitor or a mistake in this regard, the competitor shall be
      disqualified from receiving prize money or dealt with in any way at the Stewards discretion.
34.   A novice is a Horse or Pony that has never won a Championship in a similar contest at an Agricultural Show.
35.   If in the opinion of the judge any horse or pony is entered in the wrong class, the judge shall have the power to
      classify it in the correct class.
36.   OPEN HACK EVENTS AND GALLOWAYS – a person who has attained the age of twelve (12) years may ride in the
      OPEN Hack Ring. All small Show Pony Hacks and Show Hunter Pony Hacks 12.2 hands and under to be ridden
      by a juvenile or adult. Show Pony Hack and Show Pony Hunter Hack over 12.2 hands and not exceeding 14
      hands may be ridden by a juvenile or adult. Australian Stud Ponies, Australian Saddle Ponies and Riding Ponies
      may be ridden by adults in their special breed events.
37.    The use of hormones, tranquillizer and/or analgesics is prohibited. Any exhibitor violation this Regulation will
      be dealt with by the Society.
38.   A Steward may make or cause to be made any test of any exhibit to determine whether any drug or stimulant
      has been administered to such exhibit and may take possession of any such exhibit for any of the aforesaid
      purpose and detain such horse for such a period as is deemed necessary. The following substances are drugs:
       a. Any substance capable at any time of acting on one or more of the following mammalian body system: the
          central or peripheral nervous system; the cardiovascular system; the respiratory system; the alimentary
          system; the muscular -skeletal system; or the urogenital system; and shall include analgesics, antihistamine,
          anti-inflammatory agents, blood coagulant, diuretics, hormones and their synthetic counterparts, cortico-
          steroids, anabolic steroids, local anesthetics, muscle relaxants and tranquillizers and vitamins.
       b. Metabolites, artifacts and isomers of a drug prescribed in Sub-Rule (a) of this Rule.
       c. The following substances shall be considered a drug when present above the levels set out as follows:
                          i. Arsenic at a level of 0.3 micrograms per milliliter of urine.
                         ii. Dimethyl Sulphoxide at a level of 15 micrograms per milliliter of urine of 1000 nanograms
                             per milliliter of plasma.
                        iii. Nandroline, free and conjugated 5a-estrane-3B, 17a-diol to 5(10)-estrene-3B, 17adiol at a
                             ratio of I in urine.
iv. Salicylic acid at a level of 750 micrograms per milliliter in urine or 6.5 micrograms per
                            milliliter in plasma.
                        v. Hydrocortisone at a level of 1000 nanograms per milliliter in urine.
                       vi. Any other endogenous substance or vitamin in unusual or abnormal amounts.
          Any exhibit which has been brought to the Showgrounds and is found to have had administered to it any drug
          as defined above may, without prejudice to any other action which may be taken in respect of the matter, be
          debarred by the Stewards from competing in any event for which it may have been entered.
          When any horse which is on the Showgrounds for the purpose of taking part in a class or event at the Show
          tests positive for a drug as defined above the owner or any person who was in charge of the horse shall be
          deemed to have been responsible for the presence of the drug unless he establishes to the satisfaction of sub-
          committee appointed that he was not responsible for that drug's presence and could not be the exercise of
          due care and diligence have prevented its administration.
          Any person who, at any time, has in his possession on the Showground, any electric or galvanic apparatus or
          improper contrivance shall be deemed to have been guilty of improper practice in connection with any
          event in which that person was the owner or person in charge of a horse which was entered in that event
          unless he establishes to the satisfaction of a sub-committee that he was not responsible for the fact that such
          apparatus or contrivance was in his possession or apparent possession and could not by the exercise of due
          care and diligence have prevented the possession or the apparent possession of that apparatus or
          contrivance.
40.   Judges and stewards:
41.   Judges must be suitably attired in either riding clothes, ladies, neat street attire men, suit or sports coat and tie
       and hat whilst judging.
42.   A judge shall not send a substitute judge without the permission of the show society concerned.
43.   A judge shall be reported to the Queensland Chamber of Agriculture Societies for failure to attend a show to
       which he or she is committed, or appear in time for the advertised commencement of the classes without
       reasonable cause.
44.   An exhibit is ineligible to compete if the competitor/exhibitor is a member of the judge’s family.
45.   An exhibit is ineligible to compete if the horse has been owned or leased by the judge, a member of his/her
       family, his or her employer or business partner within the last three months.
46.   An exhibit is ineligible to compete if the competitor/exhibitor or his/her family has been provided
       accommodation for the judge immediately prior to or during the show.
47.   An exhibit is ineligible to compete if any part of the combination has been given tuition by the judge or his/her
       business partner within the last three months.
48.   An exhibit is ineligible to compete, if the competitor/exhibitor has employed by or has been a business partner
       of the judge, with in the last three months.
49.   An exhibit is ineligible to compete if the competitor/exhibitor has given tuition to the judge or trained a horse
       owned or leased by the judge within the last three months.
50.   A judge shall not visit neither the horse stables nor the owners, nor inspect or discuss any horse entered in the
       show prior to or during the judged of the relevant section.
51.   No competitor/exhibitor shall deface or alter registration papers or performance cards.
52.   Attention to all dog owners: - Dogs come onto the Showgrounds as the owner’s responsibility and must be
       securely chained inside Vehicles or if under Vehicles on a short lead so they cannot dive out and bite anyone.
       NO DOGS ALLOWED IN THE RING AT ANY TIME EITHER LOOSE OR ON A LEAD.
53.   Notice to owners of stock from tick free areas: There will be no spraying facilities on the grounds. Exhibitors will
       have to make arrangements prior to the Show to have their horses sprayed at the Tick line Clearance Centers at
       either Aratula, Helidon or Coolabunia on return journey.
54.   The Ring coordinating committee are responsible for deciding the interpretation of the regulations, they shall be
       guided by the intent of the regulation. Their decision is final, no further correspondence will be entered into.
55.   Stewards are advised to be diligent regarding duty of care at all times, and be able to implement risk
      management procedures where necessary. Provision will be made for recording any incidents and action will be
      taken. No steward to make any comment regarding any incidents without consultation with the Ipswich Show
      Society.
Copy of the Rules of the Queensland Chamber of Agricultural Societies and the Ipswich Show Society Inc. may be seen
at the Secretary's Office on request.
NOTES:
 • The entrance for all Horse transport shall be via Parker Avenue entrance, and shall then park at the direction
     of the Parking Supervisor.
 • All rings to start sharp at designated times.
 • Sunday morning Parker Avenue will be opened at 5.00am.
The Ipswich Show Society requires everybody to comply with the Workplace Health and Safety Act of 1989, to its
regulations and all relevant Codes of Practice and will ensure that all persons in or near the exhibits at the invitation
of the Exhibitors also comply. Any exhibitor intending to bring electrical equipment to the Showground will be
required to ensure that such equipment is fitted with earth leakage circuit breakers and that all electrical leads,
tools and appliances have been inspected and tagged by a licensed electrical contractor. This is essential for the
safety of all exhibitors and the general public and is a requirement of the Workplace Health and Safety Act of 1989.
The Act imposes very severe penalties in the event of non-compliance with its provision. Any exhibitors who do not
comply will not be allowed to exhibit at the IPSWICH show.
DUE TO WORK PLACE HEALTH AND SAFETY, NO UNAUTHORISED PEOPLE ARE TO BE IN THE RING AT ANY TIME
(INCLUDING CHILDREN AND STROLLERS).
THE STEWARDS RESERVE THE RIGHT TO ALTER OR AMEND THE PROGRAMME.

                                  SAFETY EQUIPMENT
HELMETS
Junior competitors are reminded of the mandatory ruling regarding the compulsory wearing of AS/NZS 3838:1998 or
EN 1384 or ASTN F1163 helmets in All PHASES. This ruling will be enforced with no exception because of liability
insurance requirements.
PRIZE AWARDS
                The Prize Ribbons, affixed to exhibits, shall be distinguished by the following colours: -

                                                    CAMPING
Horse competitors camping on the ground during the show are requested to pay $25.00 per campsite per night
which is payable when nominating online. One horse per stable unless prior arrangements made with the Chief
Steward.
 All Stables will be checked routinely throughout the show. Any Competitors breaking stabling rules will be required
to pay for additional stables. Further breaking of these rules will mean horses will be excluded from competing.
Any competitors arriving before the start of the show please contact Chief Steward for arrangements to be made and
to receive further information.

                                               STABLING FEES
Stabling fees for all horses are as listed below:
Stable for Day Use only: $10
Stable for Day and Night Use: $20
All stables will be presented to horse competitors with fresh saw dust before horses are stabled. Any additional saw
dust is at the owner’s expense and is available for purchase from the Show Office during the entirety of the show for
the applicable fee.

• Firstly, APSB is NOT a breed – it is a society that administers ten pure breeds and four registers under its umbrella
• All eligible breeds of APSB can compete in their section at the Ipswich Show

  directly under the pony’s name on the top left-hand corner of the certificate.
• PLEASE NOTE: A pony can only compete in ONE APSB breed section – i.e. An Australian Pony CANNOT compete in
  the Welsh Pony section and vice versa.
