A Fire

It was a bright Sunday morning. John’s parents were at
the market. He felt bored so he decided to play with matchsticks
that he had found in the kitchen.

John used the matchsticks to light up a candle. Suddenly,
the candle toppled. The dustbin caught fire! He felt scared. The fire
in the dustbin grew bigger and bigger! Suddenly, the dustbin toppled
and the fire spread wildly! John felt anxious. He cried for help. His
neighbours heard his cries for help so they called the police.

The wail of a siren could be heard. Thick black smoke
could be seen from John’s flat. After a short while, three fire
engines arrived. The firemen swiftly put out the fire. When John’s
parents came back from the market, they were shocked to see their
flat badly damaged by the fire. John promised his parents that he
would not play with fire again.

A Lesson Learnt

It was a peaceful Sunday morning. Mark was at home with
his mother. Mark’s mother put a jar of assorted sweets in the
kitchen cabinet. She told Mark not to eat the sweets. Then she went
to her room to take a nap.

As soon as his mother went to her room, Mark put a pile
of newspapers on a chair. He climbed onto the chair and tried to
take the jar of sweets from the kitchen cabinet.

Suddenly, Mark lost his balance and tumbled down from
the chair. Crash! He dropped the glass jar and it shattered into
pieces! The sweets in the glass jar scattered all over the kitchen
floor.

When Mark’s mother heard the commotion in the kitchen,
she rushed out quickly from her room. Her face turned red with fury
when she saw what her son had done. ”See what you have done!” she
yelled angrily. Mark was scared stiff as he was guilty of breaking the
glass jar. He was as quiet as a mouse when his mother scolded him.
Mark’s mother punished him by ordering him to clean up the mess.
He learnt his lesson and apologised to his mother. He promised his
mother that he would turn over a new leaf and not be greedy again.

Turning around, she saw a cute puppy on the pavement. It was

Mary cuddled the puppy in her arms and wondered how to
return it to its owner. She thought its owner must be looking for it
frantically. Suddenly, she had a brainwave. She checked the dog’s
collar and found an address there. Finally, she decided to look for its
owner based on the address found.

When Mary reached the address, she knocked on the
door. Knock! Knock! A lady opened the door. Her face lit up with joy
when she saw her puppy safe and sound in Mary’s arms. The lady
offered Mary some cash as a reward. Mary declined the offer. She
