BOWL LICENSING FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Q: Do I have to send in the advance to obtain bowl logos from JPatton? A: No. However, you do need to complete the bowl application online and submit the application fee. Once your application is approved, IMGCL will notify JPatton so that access will be granted to Logos on Demand. If you do not have an account with JPatton please email Maricruz Santana ( firstname.lastname@example.org ) for information. Q: When is the advance due? A: The advance may be sent with your application fee or any time in-between, but the advance must be received by the deadline, Wednesday, December 6. This will ensure a contract is executed prior to the bowl games. Production cannot begin until you receive an executed contract from IMGCL and artwork is approved by the bowl and school(s). Q: Will the advance be refunded if the team I am following does not go to a IMGCL bowl? A: Yes, if the school you are following is clearly marked on the application. If you decide not to participate in any of IMGCL’s bowls, a WRITTEN request must be submitted to IMGCL BEFORE Friday, January 5, 2018. Advances will not be returned if production has begun. A $25 fee will be assessed on all checks where stop payment has been issued. Advance refunds will be mailed out before Wednesday, February 15, 2017. Q: What team will play in what bowl? A: Bowl invitations are officially announced on Sunday, December 3, 2017. However, some bowls will extend invitations which schools can accept prior to December 3. IMGCL is not responsible for informing licensees of these invitations. It is the licensee’s responsibility to confirm that artwork and contracts are correct. Q: When can we start submitting designs? A: Once your bowl application is approved, you will receive an email indicating approval and activation of the approved bowls within the Multi-Institution Artwork section of Brand Manager 360. As a reminder, production cannot begin until the bowl contract is fully executed and artwork is approved by the bowl and school(s). Q: Can I get approval on my design immediately? A: IMGCL reviews designs many times daily. The schools and bowls realize the urgency of approving artwork and they also review designs many times daily. Please be patient as there is a very high volume of artwork submitted daily. To ensure timely approval of artwork, we request submitting artwork before Friday, December 8. NOTE: Many universities are closed during the holidays. In order to take full advantage of this hot market opportunity and meet your production and delivery deadlines, designs must be submitted prior to Friday, December 8. Q: Do I have to print the sponsor’s name every time the bowl name is mentioned? A: Please refer to each bowl’s artwork guidelines for specific information. Q: Can I use city/state landmarks in bowl designs? A: The design content is subject to the bowl’s approval. Q: What is the best way to check on the status of a design? A: Brand Manager 360 allows you to track your artwork as it goes through the process from IMGCL to participating institutions and bowls. You are notified via email once the process is complete. However, you may check the status of a design at any time within Brand Manager 360. Q: When can we begin producing merchandise? A: Two things must be in place before you can begin production: 1. Teams are officially announced or have accepted a bowl invitation. 2. Artwork has been approved by the bowl and participating institutions through Brand Manager 360.
BOWL LICENSING FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (continued) Q: Are there any limitations as to where bowl products can be sold? A: Licensee may not distribute and/or sell merchandise bearing the licensed indicia of the Valero Alamo Bowl and/or its participating teams to any individual or business that intends to resell the merchandise within a two (2) mile radius of the Alamo Dome in San Antonio, TX. Licensee may not distribute and/or sell merchandise bearing the licensed indicia of the Camping World Bowl or Citrus Bowl and/or their participating teams to any individual or business that intends to resell the merchandise within Orange and Osceola counties in the week preceding and during Game Events. Licensee may not distribute and/or sell merchandise bearing the licensed indicia of the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl and/or their participating teams to any individual or business that intends to resell the merchandise within a five (5) mile radius of Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. Licensee may not distribute and/or sell merchandise bearing the licensed indicia of the Taxslayer Bowl and/or its participating teams to an individual or business that intends to resell the merchandise within a two (2) mile radius of EverBank Field in Jacksonville, Florida. Q: When are royalties reported and to whom? A: Bowl royalty reports are due by the 20th of each month to IMG College Licensing (IMGCL). All reports must be submitted online via Brand Manager 360. Reports are due whether or not any sales occurred during the reporting period. Failure to report in a timely manner and provide an accurate statement of royalties will jeopardize future participation in bowl licensing. Please note the minimum royalty per unit policy as described on page 3. Q: How many finished samples do I need to send to IMGCL? A: Finished samples are due upon request only. Q: For bowl merchandise, can I use the OLCP hologram hangtag or sticker? A: Yes, licensees are required to use either the hologram hangtag or sticker on all bowl merchandise. In addition, licensees must affix its name to each licensed article and packaging to be easily identified by enforcement staff in the marketplace. Licensed articles not appropriately marked risk enforcement staff removing the product from the marketplace. OLCP holograms may be obtained from JPatton Sports Marketing by calling (770) 614-0400. Other licensing identifiers may be required by individual schools participating in an IMGCL-administered bowl. Q: Is the winner of the bowl the 2017 or 2018 Champion? A: The winner of each bowl game, except the national championship bowl game, is considered the champion for the year that the bowl is played. For example, the Valero Alamo Bowl is played in 2017; therefore the winner is the 2017 Champion. The Citrus Bowl is played in 2018; therefore the winner is considered the 2018 Champion. Q: Do any of the bowls have exclusive agreements in place for the 2017-2018 bowl season? A: The Alamo Bowl, Camping World Bowl and Citrus Bowl have an exclusive agreement with their concessionaire to produce champions product for their game. Therefore, approval for these games is restricted to pre-game merchandise only. Q: How do I obtain a license for the College Football Playoff (CFP)? A: The Allstate Sugar Bowl and the Rose Bowl Game are the sites of the CFP semi-finals. Therefore, their programs will be covered by the CFP this season. The CFP is not adding additional licensees to their program. Please note that the Capital One Orange Bowl, Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, Goodyear Cotton Bowl, and PlayStation Fiesta Bowl are not official CFP sites this season. Therefore, their licensing programs will be managed separately from the CFP licensing program.
