rotations. Clubroot is a serious disease that can cause major yield loss. Putting an integrated pest management
(IPM) plan in place is the first step when confronted or concerned with clubroot. Using a hybrid with built-in
resistance is one tool available to help manage the disease. Maximize and protect the potential of your crop with

INVIGOR’S CLUBROOT-
RESISTANT GENETICS
NEW InVigor L234PC, NEW InVigor Health L258HPC, InVigor L255PC, InVigor L135C and
InVigor L241C have all been developed to be resistant to the most predominant clubroot
pathotypes found in Canada at the time of their registration.
InVigor Health L258HPC, InVigor L255PC, InVigor L135C and InVigor L241C all contain
the same clubroot resistance profile. The NEW InVigor L234PC contains this resistance
profile, plus a 2nd generation multi-genetic clubroot resistance to additional clubroot
pathotypes to help combat evolving clubroot pathotypes.
In the field environment, clubroot populations can evolve and may contain or develop
additional pathotypes that current resistant hybrids may become susceptible to. New
pathotypes may become dominant in the clubroot population, if no additional integrated
pest management approaches are taken and canola hybrids with similar resistance
profiles are used repeatedly in the same field. To maximize the durability of genetic
resistance in canola hybrids, use a proper integrated pest management strategy that
includes extending rotations in areas where clubroot is a concern. We support the Canola
Council of Canada’s agronomic recommendations when growing InVigor hybrids.

DISEASE PROTECTION
To stay ahead of blackleg in Western Canada, a comprehensive and coordinated
plan needs to be implemented to have any meaningful impact on blackleg levels.
An integrated pest management approach is the optimal way to facilitate ongoing,
increased and predictable trade along with providing tangible benefits to Canadian
canola growers.
InVigor breeders have focused much of their efforts on not only major gene resistance,
but also on minor gene resistance. Minor genes provide additive and robust protection
against all blackleg pathogen races, unlike major genes that provide a high level of
resistance against only specific pathogen races. With the wide range of blackleg
pathogen races within fields across Western Canada (12+), minor gene resistance is
and will continue to be incredibly important and the backbone in providing prolonged
management of this disease and protection against existing major genes.
Like any plant/pathogen system, over-reliance on a single means to manage blackleg
will eventually fail. Executing a sound integrated pest management plan is integral in
managing blackleg, and in cases of severe infection, growers should take aim at the
root of the problem and consider extending their rotation on the specific problem
fields to help reduce inoculum levels.

InVigor seed undergoes rigorous testing and unsurpassed quality

We ask all growers and retailers to return unopened bags of InVigor seed
