Originally called Decoration Day, Memorial Day is a day of remembrance of those
who have sacrificed their lives in service to our country.

As a tribute to those fallen service members, we cordially invite you to meet our
local Blue Lake Springs Veterans, lead by BLS member Harry Tittle.

Our honorary veterans will demonstrate how to respectfully fold an American flag
and outline what each fold means. Our local veterans served in the Marines, Navy,
Army, Air Force, and Coast Guard.
In keeping with the July 4th tradition, members spend a fun filled day at the Snowflake
Lodge facility. This special day includes a swim in the pool or lake, warm sunshine and a hot
dog or two. Sleepy eyed kids participate in the early morning fishing derby, create chalk it up
designs and cool off on the waterslides.

The celebration is capped off by gathering on the Lodge Lake beach for a memorable fire-
works display. Children’s laughter can be heard, along with oohing and awing as the sky lights
up. This is a time where strangers become friends and forever memories are created.
