• Countries short on vaccine supplies can consider delaying giving people
their second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, World Health
Organization experts said in interim guidance.

    • The same vaccine appears to protect against a key mutation in the highly
contagious new variants discovered in the United Kingdom and South
Africa, according to new data that is awaiting peer review.

    • Modeling from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
found that more than half of coronavirus cases were spread by
        people without symptoms.

    • Moderna’s CEO said that the company’s vaccine is likely to provide
protection “for a couple of years.” A separate study said the human body
typically retains a robust immune response to the virus for at least eight
        months after infection.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Recommendations
                            Issued Sunday, December 20, 2020
States have Discretion; Most States have Adopted CDC Guidelines

CDC Recommendation: In addition to health care workers and nursing residents and staff,
the following “front-line essential workers” and adults should be given priority:
     ▸ First responders
     ▸ Teachers
     ▸ Day-care staff
     ▸ Grocery store workers
     ▸ Prison guards

other first responders (including search and rescue and similar personnel not included in

Vaccine Tracker – New Jersey
     Phased Order of Priority

      • The movement between vaccination eligibility phases will be fluid. One phase
           may overlap with another.

      • Not all individuals in each phase will be vaccinated before opening to additional
groups, and not all groups within a specific phase will be made eligible to receive
the vaccine at the same time.

      • Once vaccine availability expands, vaccination will advance to Phase 1C and then
           Phase 2.

13
Vaccine Tracker – New Jersey
