          December Luncheon Highlights!
What a fun time had by all at the Archibald Center December Luncheon! It
was held at the Montgomery Advertiser in the Freedom Room. Everyone
enjoyed a wonderful holiday meal catered by The Kings Table and was well
informed by Dr. John Porter, Arthritis Knee Specialist. Before the luncheon
we played several rounds of BINGO hosted by Wendy Bullard of John Knox
at Home and was awarded marvelous door prizes!

productions of classics that respect the text while also speaking powerfully to contemporary
audiences.” Dildine will replace Geoffrey Sherman, ASF’s artistic director for the past 12
years.

GAME DAY and MOVIE DAY in January!
Game Day will resume January 23rd.
Come and enjoy BINGO, door prizes and

Movie Day will resume January 24th featuring
“Same Kind of Different As Me”.

Successful businessman Ron Hall and his wife, Deborah,
discover a renewed sense of purpose when they begin to
volunteer at a local mission in Fort Worth, Texas. Their lives
change forever when they develop an unlikely friendship with
Denver Moore, a homeless man who inspires them to save their
                             struggling marriage.

The Archibald Center Quilters and Loom Group participated in the
2017 Christmas Bags Project. Each December the Christmas Bags Project allows
the Montgomery Area Council on Aging (MACOA) Meals on Wheels Program to
take a large brown bag of groceries and other goodies to over 275 of our most needy
senior citizens. Also provided are lap quilts and knitted hats to keep them warm.
Hundreds and hundreds of quilts were quilted and hats were knitted. If you would
like to participate in the quilting or looming group (or both), contact the Archibald
Center (334) 240-6767.

Bob’s Tidbits
Words of some truth and imagination from Bob Honel

•An Irish Toast, “May you have warm words on a cold day, a full moon on a
dark night, and a smooth road all the way to your door”.
•Exercise? I thought you said extra fries!
•In 1903 General Electric sold the first Christmas tree lights.
•Did you hear about the invisible man who married the invisible woman?
Their kids were nothing to look at.
•Best friends make the good times better and the hard times easier.
•Why is abbreviation such a long word?
•Please do not pour warm water on your frozen windshield as you’ll add another layer of ice
or crack your windshield. Instead, try a solution of one part water to two parts rubbing alcohol
and squirt on your windshield and this should help melt the ice.
•When your mouth is on fire from spicey food, water only makes it worse. Instead, drink milk.
It dilutes oils that cause the spiciness.
•After a Sunday morning church service, Phillip suddenly announced to his mother, “Mom,
I’ve decided to become a minister when I grow up.” “That’s okay with me, but what made
you decide that?” his mother asked. “Well,” said the little boy,” I’ll have to go to church on
Sunday anyway, so I figure it would be more fun to stand up and yell, than to sit down and
listen.”
                              Thought to remember...
you can’t give without loving, but you can’t love without giving.
