Swan Lake
Cape Town City Ballet presents
the classic ballet Swan Lake at the
Artscape Theatre Centre. The ballet
will be accompanied by the Cape
Town Philharmonic Orchestra.
This timeless classic epitomises
the seamless integration of the
beauty and grace of ballet, while
showcasing the depth of balletic by Leanè Theunissen as the Black
talent in a truly South African Swan, Odile and Conrad Nusser as
company. This version of Swan Lake Prince Siegfried.
is based on Vladimir Bourmeister’s
Composer Tchaikovsky
version, which was first taught
Director Elizabeth Triegaardt
to the CAPAB Ballet Company by
Conductor Brandon Phillips

Cape Town City Ballet presents
Earthwalker, a new ballet created by
Kirsten Isenberg and Robin van Wyk.
The Earthwalker, also known as Taurus,
is a young star who wanders the Earth,
going from tribe to tribe, bewitching the
young maidens with his devil-may-care Cape Junior Ballet, while the fourth
attitude and charismatic charms. But ballet is one produced by Kirvan Fortuin,
then he falls head-over-heels in love whose ballet, Silver and Gold (You & I),
with Virgo, daughter of the Water King, was performed in Cape Town in 2016.

In 2003, the Artscape Theatre launched
the Youth Jazz Festival. This festival’s
focus remains the continuous skills
development within the genre of Jazz,

democratisation of our country.

ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE: DIZU PLAATJIES
Dizu Plaatjies, former leader of the group, Amampondo and a music maestro
in his personal capacity, will conduct a series of workshops throughout
the year teaching the art of making music with the use of indigenous
instruments including the mbira and kudu horns among others. The fruits of
their labour will culminate into a concert in August presenting these unique
sounds. The aim of the artist-in-residence project, which will be ongoing,
is to eventually produce an Indigenous Orchestra celebrated equally in the
classical music genre as Western Symphony Orchestras.
