Book SIzes Research has shown that users in different markets prefer the Yellow Pages® Book to be provided in different formats, for ease of use and storage. To answer this, the Mainland Metro books; Melbourne (V00Y), Sydney (N00Y), Brisbane (Q00Y), Adelaide (S00Y), Perth (W00Y) are reduced by 15% when printed, a smaller, easier to handle size. METRO MAINLAND & IN-THE-CAR ADVERTS Supply Art Design Tip: Consider reduction impacts when designing and creating artwork. Supply Art Preview Tip: Before you supply your artwork, you can print yourself a reduced copy simply by setting your Print reduction percentage setting to 85% (for Mainland Metros) or to 70% (for in-the-cars).

Display Advert Proofs. Display advert proofs are generated with any size reductions taken into account and they are sent out at the adjusted size to match the book in which it appears. NOTE: If you print out the proof the size may adjust further depending on your computer settings and printer’s borders. SD0670 ARTWORK GUIDELINES FOR YELLOW PAGES ADVERTISING 4 TEXT & FONTS FOR SPACE ADS Space adverts are set in a different program to display adverts which has been specifically designed for Yellow Pages® Books.

Space adverts follow specific formatting guidelines and have limited fonts that may be used. As such Space adverts are not impacted by the display optimal minimum text size guidelines. Foreign Languages Lines of text in a foreign language are scanned in as art pieces and are to be inserted during setting of the Ad, by the Yellow Pages® Advertising Artist. The use of foreign languages in copy matter is acceptable under the following conditions: • The name, address and telephone number of the customer appears in English. • At least 50% of the overall copy matter of the entry or advertisement is in English.

• Suitable artwork and/or text is supplied by the customer where the characters are unable to be set.

Logos, illustrations or copy matter may be used to form borders, provided the advertisement remains encased.

Borders do not have to conform to the maximum dimensions of the advertisement. Minimum external border thickness is one (1) point for black and two (2) points for colour. Borders in white or yellow of any shade or colour variation of yellow are not permitted. Advertisements incorporating more than one business must have a 4 point black border around the entire collection of ads. However, based on feedback from Yellow Pages® users, we’ve introduced a Optimal Minimum adjustment. The Optimal Minimum is more accessible to a wide percentage of users . Artwork Text Minimum: Is the minimum size texts can be set at when setting artwork for the Yellow Pages® Book. If text in supplied artwork is smaller than this, it may not be legible when printed. In these cases the artwork can be rejected or altered before going to print. Optimal Minimum: This is a recommended minimum point size that is more user-friendly for users of the book, regardless of the size the book ends up printed ad (Mainland Metro, Regional or In The Car).

However this is still a guide for minimum size and advertisers are encouraged to use larger font sizes where possible. SD0670 ARTWORK GUIDELINES FOR YELLOW PAGES ADVERTISING 10 VECTOR BASED IMAGE REQUIREMENTS • Save files as EPS or PDF format • Artwork must be saved as CMYK • All transparencies must be flattened • All text must be converted to outlines/curves/paths • All overprinting must be removed • Linked/embedded images in vector based art must meet the Pixel Based Image Requirements below. • A copy of the original image must also be supplied as a separate file PIXEL BASED IMAGE REQUIREMENTS • We prefer files to be saved with layers • When possible supply the file at the correct image/ad size • Resolution DPI – 200dpi (images without text) – 400dpi (images containing text/copy/logo) • Photoshop File Compression, only LZW compression may be used.

• Yellow Pages® Yellow background will be inserted at the printing stage. Do not include it in your artwork. USE OF INTERNET REFERENCE MATERIAL FOR PRINT PRODUCTS • Internet photos/material can’t be sourced without permission from the copyright holder • Web images are set at resolution too low for print reproduction unless they are 4 times the physical size they are to be printed at Hardcopy (Physical) References While the majority of art supplied is digitally based, supplying physical or hardcopy advert/artwork references is at times acceptable. Where possible, supply original master art, otherwise supply the highest quality copy or printed original of the reference available.

Hardcopy references should be provided to your Yellow Pages® Media Sales Advisor.

Supplying a composite proof example of advertisements and/or artwork When supplying electronic artwork or advertisement files, a composite proof accurately depicting the finished advert or artwork must be supplied in conjunction with all electronic files, ideally as JPG, PDF or PNG format. This enables comparison between the composite proof and supplied electronic artwork confirming that the correct file has been supplied and corruption has not occurred in transit. SD0670 ARTWORK GUIDELINES FOR YELLOW PAGES ADVERTISING 11 A Mobile Code is a unique two dimensional barcode graphic designed to be used with a compatible mobile phone. By scanning a Mobile Code in a Yellow Pages® Book Display Advertisement with the camera on a compatible mobile phone, users can access information such as mobile websites and other content. Mobile Codes In Display Advertisements • Must be supplied as a single ink black (no CYMK / Rich Blacks) on a white background • Must disclose any applicable charges e.g. ‘Data charges may apply’. This disclaimer is to be located below the Mobile Code.

• Only available for Size 6 or above Display Products • Only one Mobile Code is permitted to be included in each advertisement Size Requirements Each module within a Mobile Code must be 1.15 mm (1.0 mm for Regional) or greater and a white space of no less than four times the size of the smallest module must surround the perimeter of the Mobile Code, e.g. if the smallest module within a Mobile Code is 1.15mm (1.0 mm for Regional) then a white space of 4.6 mm (4.0 mm for Regional) must surround the code. No text is to be included in this white space. In addition, it is recommended that the Mobile Code is not surrounded by a border.

Mobile Codes that do not meet these specifications may not scan correctly when printed.

In the Car Books Mobile Codes included within In the Car Display Advertisements must be increased by 145% of the minimum Mobile Code size requirements for the Yellow Pages® Book Display Advertisement which means the minimum size is: • 1.45mm module size • 5.8 mm white space To physically fit the larger code, the artist will make the following changes in the following order and if more space is required the next step is taken: A Sensis artist makes the changes to the In the Car Display Advertisement in order to accommodate the larger Mobile Code. SD0670 ARTWORK GUIDELINES FOR YELLOW PAGES ADVERTISING 12 Acceptable File Formats Sensis uses Photoshop & Illustrator, Sensis accepts artwork created on windows or mac, using graphic industry standard software saved in the following formats: pdf, ai, eps, psd, tiff, jpg and raw. PDF FILE SETTINGS Please use the following settings when producing a PDF ad: • No security settings or password protection • All text must be converted to outlines/curves/paths • Acrobat 6 (PDF1.5) compatible with all editing capabilities preserved • Colour & Greyscale Bitmap images to an average downloading sample of 400dpi • 8bit Zip Compression • Supply a composite proof depicting how your art should appear – see “SUPPLYING A COMPOSITE PROOF EXAMPLE...” below FILE COMPRESSION Reducing your files into compressed folders enables you to send larger file sizes over email.

The following format is accepted: ZIP Supplying a composite proof example of advertisements and/or artwork When supplying electronic artwork or advertisement files, a composite proof accurately depicting the finished advert or artwork must be supplied in conjunction with all electronic files, ideally as JPG, PDF or PNG format. This enables comparison between the composite proof and supplied electronic artwork confirming that the correct file has been supplied and corruption has not occurred in transit. MICROSOFT OFFICE & OTHER FILE FORMATS Microsoft office software is not designed to create files suitable for professional printing.

Any file formats other than the one we’ve listed can only be used as a template or as a rough guide for layout. Substantial changes can occur when the ad is reset by a Yellow Pages® Advertising Artist.

Other images representing your business, for example a shopfront or photo/pictorial representation of the business, may be accepted in some circumstances, subject to approval. Text such as “click here” or additional advertising information in conjunction with a logo cannot be included. File size of the image should not be more than 5KB, and the image will be resized if required. Some consideration for logos that tend to be quite wide may be needed as when reduced in size tends to be very hard to read.

Advertisers must have authorisation to use trademarks, logos or brands within advertising and must comply with rights to use. The Text Descriptor is used by our search engines to help match your advertisement to a search term entered by the user of the Yellow Pages® site. We recommend incorporating words in that may be entered as a search term when searching for your type of business into your Text Descriptor. Text Descriptors can be up to 70 Characters (including Spaces) and should aim to include as many words as possible that describe the products, services, brands and major focus of your business.

The Text Descriptor must; • Be typed in a grammatically correct manner and include spaces between words and after full stops and commas • Appear in title case appears as upper and lower characters i.e. Brands including Honda, Holden. Each catalogue PDF cannot exceed the maximum file size of 5MB. Each catalogue PDF will have an icon representing the PDF: This icon is 38px x 50px with a maximum file size of 5KB. The Showcase Links naming field has a maximum length of 32 characters. Only PDF’s that feature products or services under the category advertised by will be accepted. If you happen to have multiple advertisements under different categories, you must use the most relevant catalogues under the category in which the Showcase Links appear.

The thumbnail of the Showcase Link must be a thumbnail of the brochure not the logo of the business. Photos found on websites other than the customers own, such as Google images or Flickr may not be used. Images found on online stock photo libraries may not be used. Pictures for Image Galleries may contain Alternative Text (Alt Text). Alt Text can be used to add a descriptive element to your picture.
