These programs offer families an opportunity to explore creativity, learn and engage with each other. RECYCLED ROBOTS ages 5 & up with adult Saturday,May11,2:00-3:00pm Discover how artists like Picasso created figures from recyclables and construct your own one-of-kind robot using recycled toys, boxes, computer parts, buttons and more. Beginning on June 28, stop by the Children’s Reference Desk to sign up and pick up your journal. Use your journal to write down or draw about books you’ve read or library programs you’ve attended! Show us your journal once a week to be entered into a weekly raffle for a chance to win a prize.

HEALTH INSURANCE ASSISTANCE Wednesdays,May15&June19,3:30-7:30pm You and your family members may be eligible for a health insurance program offered through New York State. Facilitated Enrollers from the Nassau- Suffolk Hospital Council will be at the library to assist people in applying for Child Health Plus, Family Health Plus and Medicaid. Whether you are applying for the first time or need help with your coverage, the enrollers will be available to help you with your application.

1,000 BOOKS BEFORE KINDERGARTEN The best way to ensure that a child has the skills necessary to learn to read is having someone read aloud to them. For every 100 books you read together, your child will earn a book to keep. Register to participate at the Children’s Reference Desk. It is never too early to build a love for reading! On the day of the class, bring $40 cash or money order made out to AOK Driving School. Military and veterans get a $10 discount. Keychains will be donated to the shelter for the animals’ new owners!
