Wainfest Launch 2018

Venue: Inishowen Maritime Museum & Planetarium
Date: September 21st Time: 11.00
Opening by: The Cathaoirleach of Donegal County Council,
            Cllr Seamus O’ Domhnaill.

Special guest Malachy Doyle will read from
his book Molly and the Stormy Sea, an
enchanting fable about faith, sacrifice and
hope, featuring wonderful illustrations
from Andrew Whitson.

Malachy has published books for children
of all ages as well as teenagers. He draws
on his childhood in Ireland, his children’s
childhood in Wales, from his favourite
folk tales, but especially from his own
thoughts for the inspiration for his stories. His best
known picture books include The Dancing Tiger, Big Pig, Hungry!
Hungry! Hungry!, and recently published books Cinderfella and Ootch
Cootch.

The Salty Seadogs will come ashore for the launch and provide some
slapstick comedy entertainment. This gruesome twosome will stop at
nothing to get a hearty laugh, Just don`t let them talk you into taking
a long walk off a short plank!

                                                                          3

Anyone hoping for a tightly-scripted
talk, from a bestselling children’s
author, involving tips on creative
writing and possibly a PowerPoint,
should go elsewhere.

If, however, watching an ex-stand-up comedian muck about, sing,
mutter to himself and possibly even talk about his World of Norm
books (if he remembers to), is more your thing, then you’re in for
a treat.

Suitable for 8-12 year olds. Unsuitable for those of a nervous
disposition and sour faced grownups!
