Community Education • Spring Semester 2021
When this brochure shows up in your mailbox during the last week of December or the first week of January, it may seem like
spring is a long way off, but we know it will be coming. As this brochure is being prepared, across the state and in our own
community we are seeing increasing numbers of Covid-19 infections. Unfortunately this increase directly effects how and what
we can schedule for Community Education, and as during the Fall 2020 Semester our offerings will be limited. As in the fall, for
spring we do plan on adding classes and events based upon input from the community and the stability of health concerns. Thusly,
if there is a specific class or event you would like to see offered, or if you have a hobby or skill you would like to share, please let us
know.
Similar to fall semester, you will see that some class dates are set and some are listed as “To Be Announced”. You may be asking
yourself, “How will I know if these classes are going to be held?” We recommend the following:
• Keep an eye on the EWC marquee on West C Street
• Watch the Torrington Telegram for a news release
• Check out the EWC website for a news release (www. ewc.wy.edu) or Comm Ed News
• Listen to KGOS/KERM radio station (Donna does a radio spot 2 times a month on Wednesday mornings at about 8:12am)
• You can also call and reserve a spot in the class and Donna will call you when a decision is made concerning dates
• Check out Chamber Chat for flyers
Please know that the community’s continued support of EWC Community Education and its instructors is so very greatly
appreciated and valued. You go Community Members!

4 Goshen County | Spring 2021EWC Workforce Development
Commercial Driver License Training Program
Eastern Wyoming College was awarded a special grant through the Wyoming Works Program
administered by the Wyoming Community College Commission to start a CDL Training
Program. Although the COVID-19 pandemic prevented the program from getting started by
spring of 2020 as we had intended, by November we were able to offer our first course and
certify our first community members. The goal of the program is to provide specialized training
followed by 3rd Party Testing to meet the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s
regulations that will go into effect February 2022 that will require entry-level drivers to receive
training through a FMCSA registered program.
EWC’s CDL Training program will be offered on a regular basis, ideally, every 5-6 weeks,
depending on demand and enrollment. Both day-time and evening course options will be
available. In addition, a course will be available for those individuals wanting to upgrade from
a Class B to a Class A license.
For more information concerning the application process, the requirements for acceptance, and
the fees for the CDL Training Program call Donna White at 307-532-8323 or Steve Sinks at
307-532-8365.
Be watching for an announcement for an informational meeting in January 2021.

EASTERN WYOMING COLLEGE CLASSES AT
LINGLE-FT. LARAMIE HIGH SCHOOL / NIOBRARA COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL
SOUTHEAST HIGH SCHOOL / TORRINGTON HIGH SCHOOL
Our state believes in its young people and proves it by offering qualified high school students a chance to take college classes for FREE.
Concurrent and Dual Enrollment classes are offered through Eastern Wyoming College. These classes count for both high school and college
credit. Concurrent Enrollment courses are taught by EWC approved high school teachers at Lingle-Ft. Laramie High School, Niobrara County
High School, Southeast High School and Torringtwon High School. Dual Enrollment courses are college courses taught by EWC and are
taught at Lingle-Ft. Laramie High School, Niobrara County High School, Southeast High School and Torrington High School.
• Students get a chance to try out college classes and earn credits toward a two year or four year degree or career/technical certificate.
• If students apply themselves, they could earn a degree or certificate by the time they graduate from high school.
• Students will discover this program is a two-for-one deal: classes count for both high school graduation and college credit.
• Students will be challenged through rigorous college classes while getting a running start at college.
• If a student is a senior, they will avoid “senioritis” by taking relevant classes and starting a college degree or certificate program.
• Students will save money when they go to college because they will not have not stay as long or pay for as many classes. And, the
Hathaway Scholarship dollars will stretch further.
Students can enroll in classes at Lingle-Ft. Laramie High School, Niobrara County High School, Southeast High School and Torrington
High School if they are eligible and have met course requirements. For more information, students need to contact the EWC
Coordinator or high school counselor.
Parents and students can also contact Kim Russell at Eastern Wyoming College – Torrington for more information (307.532.8280)
