2 ABOUT THE ADULT EDUCATION SERVICE The Adult Education Service (Dublin South West) is part of the Dublin and Dún Laoghaire Education and Training Board (DDLETB).

We offer a wide range of courses to adults 18 years of age and older through our main centres in Tallaght, Lucan and Clondalkin. We also provide courses in partnership with local community groups and schools. Our courses are both full-time and part-time and we provide QQI (formerly FETAC) certification. If you would like to return to education to improve your employment prospects, help your children with homework, take active part in your community or just to learn something new, we can help. INFORMATION...  Eligibility criteria, terms and conditions apply  All courses are free to eligible applicants  All courses are subject to sufficient student numbers and available funding  Places are allocated based on a first come basis and relevant to priority target groups  Priority is given to adults with less than upper second level education  Additional work outside of class time will be required for study and assignments  A minimum attendance level of 80% is required to retain your place on the course  Unfortunately there are no parking facilities for students onsite at any of our centres  Courses, awards and modules are subject to change  Adult Educational Guidance is available to students attending courses.

3 SKILLS FOR WORK EDUCATION FOR WORKING & LIVING The Skills for Work Programme is a part-time education and training initiative. It is aimed at people who are in employment, and may have left school early or whose skills may be out of date.

These courses aim to upgrade the skills, enhance the career prospects, and promote the educational advancement of adult workers who have low levels of formal education. 4 WORKING IN ADMINISTRATION & INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (Tallaght) Fulltime –22 hours per week (Mon-Fri) September 2017—June 2018 QQI Major Award Level 5 Course Code: 21203 Designed for adults who would like to gain employment in the area of business administration, this course offers an opportunity to gain up-to-date knowledge and skills. Participants will work through all aspects of modern administration practices relevant to HR, Finance and general office departments in most small and large companies. The skills and knowledge provided by this course would also assist participants with an entrepreneurial spirit who might one day like to start their own business.

Participants are introduced to SAGE and TAS Books software.

It will provide participants with a solid foundation in skills needed to take on more advanced courses in further education or even third level. The aim of the programme is to provide participants, in groups of 6-8 students, with an opportunity to access six hours of tuition per week over a 14-week period.
