Dear Members,
Our last major project for this year, the new parking lot, is proceeding quite well after Giovanni Caboto di Saverio Galli

Beer Tasting
We held our 1st Beer Tasting on August 14. All those
in attendance had a great time in being educated about
the methods and ingredients in the beers they tasted.
We had four breweries offering up ten different beers.
Our participants along with the breweries are all
looking forward to our 2nd annual Beer Tasting which
will be held on Friday June 10, 2016.
We look forward to seeing you there.

Home Made Wine Contest
This year we had over 15 entries. Once again our judges had a very difficult time choosing a winner.
A special thank you goes out to our judges: Alex Sorrentino, Sergio Martinello and Rob Brun.

Wine Tasting
Once again this year’s annual Wine Tasting was a success, with over 70 people in attendance, tasting 7
different red and 3 white wines. This year the winners were: for 1st place Artis Ingram, 2nd place was
Alessandro Sorrentino and for 3rd place we had a four way tie with Deborah Quagliotto, Angela Faoro,
Nancy Franzoi and Biagio Lattuca sharing honours.

Children’s Choir
Laurea Emeritus - Award of Merit The Coro Gioventù will be kicking off the Christmas Season
singing at long-term care homes (November). They will be singing

Picked up at our office and must be (4:30pm). Following the mass, they will be hosting the 2nd

The wine tours are getting bigger and better as time goes by. Stay tuned for next year’s dates.

The Friuli-Venezia Giulia Regional Dinner was
another great success. With a maximum group
of 300, the Caboto Hall was filled to the brim.
The complimentary wine tasting prior to the
dinner (provided by VDF Importers) gave those
in attendance the option to sample a wine prior
to purchasing it. Our kitchen staff, once again,
prepared an exceptional meal and the
compliments flowed through the evening and
after with the many emails received. This makes
4 out of 4 nights that our Regional Dinner
outings have been truly successful. One
observation that was very noticeable was that
most of those attending were repeaters from our past Regional Dinners. This showed us that they are coming not only for
the dinner, but also for the friendships they have made from past Regional Dinners. In stating this, we encourage as many
members as possible to attend a future Regional Dinner and experience what everyone is talking about. A huge thank you
goes out to our Co-Chairs: Edy Facca, Egidio Sovran and Roberto Tonial and our Club Manager Ron Moro for all their
assistance in making this another memorable evening. Below is our next Regional Dinner, so reserve early to be
guaranteed a table!

Note: Do you have children between the ages of 16 and 20? With the assistance of the Mayor of Miranda,
Isernia, Molise, an opportunity is coming up for them to enjoy a 2-3 week visit in the month of August 2016 for
the cost of a plane ticket only. Information will be announced in our March 2016 Newsletter.

CABOTO CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS PARTY
Once again, Santa Claus will be visiting the Caboto Club! In this newsletter you will also receive your
official Santa Gift Card. In order to receive a gift, this card must be completed and brought with you on the
day of the Christmas Party. Parents print your card clearly and accurately to avoid any complications.
Gifts will only be given to member’s children aged ten years or younger. Your child must be born on or
after January 1, 2005 to enable him or her to receive a gift.
No gifts will be given out the day after the party.
Only Member’s children are invited and eligible to attend the Christmas Party. Unfortunately, children who
are not the sons or daughters of members – that is cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren or friends cannot
be invited. Children have been turned away in the past, and to avoid disappointment, we ask that you please
respect this request.
No gifts will be given out prior to Santa’s arrival, with doors opening at 12:15 p.m. on Sunday, December
20, 2015 in the Canada Hall. Entertainment begins at 1:00 p.m. and includes a visit from Mr. & Mrs. Claus.
A hot dog lunch will be available while Santa visits with the children and distributes his gifts.

THANKSGIVING DAY FOOTBALL GAME 2015
Tickets are still on sale in the Caboto Club office for this year’s American Thanksgiving
Day Football game. The game will be the DETROIT LIONS vs PHILADELPHIA
EAGLES @ 12:30 pm at Ford Field on Thursday November 26th.
The cost of the tickets are $120.00 US (must pay the Club in US FUNDS for the tickets).
Along with the tickets, you can either choose:
Option#1) $55.00 CDN for the bus ride over to the game and the tailgating OR ,
Option#2) $80.00 CDN for the bus ride over to the game, tailgating and dinner back at
the club after the game.
There are 2 buses and 90 tickets available for the game. This will be on a first come first
served basis. The buses will leave from the Club at 8:00am SHARP!!

Caboto Club Mentoring Program
The Giovanni Caboto Club Mentoring Program is ready to go! The program’s goal is to help our younger
members benefit from the vast experience of our older members in a variety of professional & non
professional fields.
As of now we have over a dozen mentors with skills in various skill trades, engineering, applied science,
management (manufacturing, hospitality), construction, machine shop and teaching among others.
They have volunteered to pass on their hard learned lessons as to what skills you need to develop to
succeed in that field, but not the teaching of those skills. Can you benefit from this? Do you know someone
that can? Let us know, and we can arrange a meeting. We invite other ‘vecchiotti’ to join our Mentor
Program. Network & Succeed.

A member of Caboto Club, Mike Vonella, who is a professional tailor, is offering his expertise to teach any
member of the Caboto Club the basic of his trade. The lessons would be 40 hours in total and are free of
