There are 3 clearly marked passenger gates situated on grass to the north of the Bravo taxiway.
These are identified as H1, H2, & H3. These will be used for the loading and unloading of
passengers.

The grass area adjacent the main terminal apron, to the north west of the landing pads will be
used for helicopter parking.

2.6 GROUND HANDLING

Marshalling
Once helicopters have arrived at Farnborough under the control of Farnborough Tower, pilots
will be directed to the Helipark by Farnborough GMC and self manouevre to the gate. Once the
helicopter has safely positioned on the gate, the pilot should gives the ‘thumbs up’ to the
Handler, who will then assist with passenger disembarkation.

HELICOPTER OPERATORS GUIDE FIL 2018 5 MARCH 2018
Once all passengers are clear, the Handler will indicate ‘all clear’ to the pilot who should then
contact Farnborough GMC for parking or departure instructions.

Customer services
Reception staff will greet passengers in the Reception Centre and ensure that passengers match
the manifest for that particular helicopter. They will liaise with FIL Exhibition Services to ensure
that vehicles are available to transport passengers to the Exhibition Site.

2.7 FACILITIES

Parking
Helicopter parking is available on the grass areas adjacent the Helipark. Pilots should advise on
the initial handling request whether they will require parking.

Fuel
Jet A1 is available from TAG Farnborough Airport Ltd. An area of North Apron will be set aside
for all helicopter fuelling.

Rotors running fuelling will be allowed.

Pilots should advise on the initial handling request whether they anticipate requiring fuel.

All fuel uplifted will be charged to the Credit Card number supplied with the initial handling
request.

Reception Centre
A Reception Centre will be located landside of the helipark gates. The centre will be staffed by
TAG Reception staff who will tend to the customers’ needs.

Restroom facilities will be available in the Flight Safety International building next to the
Reception Centre.

Pilots
Pilots wishing to park and stay at the airport while their passengers visit the Exhibition will be
able to use the rest facilities provided by Flight Safety International in the building next to the
Reception Centre.

Cars
Courtesy cars will be supplied by FIL Exhibition Services who will transport passengers to and
from the Exhibition Site.

SECTION 3 - OPERATING INFORMATION

3.1 OPERATING HOURS
The Helipark will be operational from 0715L to 1900L (0615Z to 1800Z) hours on Monday 16th July
to Thursday 19th July 2018.

Due to the location of the helipark under the flight display line, operations will be suspended during
the flying display. Display times are as follows;
Mon 16th July 1330L to 1600L (1230Z to 1500Z)
Tues17th – Thurs 19th 1415L to 1645L (1315Z to 1545Z)

There will be opportunities for limited operations during the flying display. A gap of five
minutes will be created in the display programme each day;
                                            Monday – 1445
                                      Tuesday to Thursday – 1530
If known in advance these departure slots should be requested on the initial handling
request. As a minimum, pilots should request a departure slot when they arrive each
morning to allow a suitable space in the flying display programme for that afternoon to be
planned.

3.2 BOOKINGS

All handling requests should be made through TAG Ops email using FI FORM 3 at the end of this
Guide.

Email – helipark@tagfarnborough.com

Fax - +44 (0) 1252 518771

On confirmation of handling request TFA will issue a unique PPR Number which will apply to the
arrival & departure of that helicopter.

When booking, please advise whether FIL courtesy cars will be required to transport guests to the
Exhibition Site.

3.3 PAYMENT

In the week preceding the Show, operators will receive a call from TAG Finance department
requesting credit card details to enable payments to be processed during Show week. An invoice will
also be sent detailing all services by aircraft registration after the Show.

Interaction with Airshow Display Periods

In the period immediately prior to a display commencing, helicopter operations will be stopped in
sufficient time to be on the ground or a suitable distance away from the airfield prior to display
commencement.

Post display operations during the airfield closure period are acceptable, provided they do not hinder
essential Airshow repositioning activities.

Wake Turbulence procedures.

Arriving helicopters are to be issued with recommended Wake Turbulence spacing phraseology as
per CAA CAP493 (MATS Part 1). Operators will not normally utilise the full gap indicated as part of
the recommendation, but will adjust their arrival profile to avoid wake turbulence encounters.

Departing helicopters will not require departure wake turbulence separations when the main Runway
operation involves a light or small aircraft.

Missed Approaches
The standard Missed Approach for FATO 24/06 is to climb straight ahead, remaining north of the
Display line markers to remain in the visual circuit for the FATO.

Minimum Departure Interval (MDIs)
On occasion the outbound flow of Helicopters may be restricted on request by TC SVFR or
Battersea. This may result in ground delays to achieve one departure every five minutes to
Battersea.
