AMERICAN CAMP ASSOCIATION ACCREDITATION (ACA)
This seal of approval means that our camp has complied with up to 300 health, safety and program quality
standards set by the ACA (www.acacamps.org). We have met rigorous guidelines for building program quality
as well as camper-staff ratios, and this accreditation assures our camp meets both industry-accepted and
government-recognized standards. The bottom line is that this accreditation promises and guarantees you
that we care about your children and are committed to creating the best environment possible for them to grow.

SPECIALTY CAMPS
ART CAMP
Entering Grades 1-3
Your camper’s inner artist will be drawn out during a week of arts and craft fun! Kids can
grow so much when they have the opportunity to explore their imagination and creative
side. The Y Art Specialty Camp program celebrates creativity, individuality, respect and
diversity, and kids are free to learn and create through new artistic experiences. The
projects we create are not your typical camp crafts. Children will experiment with a
variety of artistic mediums like pencil drawing, cartooning, painting, arts & crafts, messy
art, papier-mâché and more. We also will include a day of culinary arts. Please dress
ready to create art. Some of the materials we will use may create a mess; so please dress
your child in clothes that can get a little messy. If you would like to provide an oversized
T-shirt or smock, that would be helpful. Please send snack as we will have a brief snack in
between activities.
ART CAMP will be held during Week 3 (July 12-16) and Week 5 (July 26-30) from 9:00am-12:00pm. It will
be held at our main Y building, 1340 Martine Avenue in Scotch Plains.
Art Camp costs $200 per week, with a $50 deposit due at registration. AM Care will be available from
7:00am-9:00am for an additional $70 per week. PM Care is not available for Art Camp.
Specialty Camps can not be combined with any other traditional day camp.

SPORTS CAMP
Entering Grades 1-3
Get ready for a half day of sports fun. We will play a wide range of
sports and games throughout the week. Sports Specialty Camp
provides a safe and enriching environment for campers to participate
in healthy, developmentally-appropriate activities and learning
experiences. Our camps focus on building self-esteem, confidence and
social skills while increasing independence and health and wellness
awareness. Your camper will have fun and make new friends while
exploring new experiences. Young athletes will develop new skills and
a new appreciation for sports and fitness with a week filled with multi
sports. Sports Specialty Camp is the perfect camp for the child who
wants a little bit of everything when it comes to sports.
SPORTS CAMP will be held during Week 4 (July 19-23) and
Week 6 (Aug. 2-6) from 9:00am-12:00pm. It will be held at an offsite Scotch Plains-Fanwood School TBD.
Sports Camp costs $200 per week, with a $50 deposit due at registration. AM Care will be available from
7:00am-9:00am for an additional $70 per week. PM Care is not available for Sports Camp.
Specialty Camps can not be combined with any other traditional day camp.

                                                                                                       4
HEALTH & SAFETY
YOUR SAFETY, OUR PRIORITY
At the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA, we take health and safety seriously. Last
year, during the summer of 2020, we had a very successful camp season with the
implementation of updated protocols and the dilligence of our staff. We follow
CDC, state Health Department and American Camping Association guidelines to
help us have a fun and safe summer. Please note: All programs and program
activities are subject to change based on guidelines at the time of camp.
Here are some of the updated guidelines you can expect to see at camp:
• Parents are required to wear a mask at drop off and pick up.
• Daily temperature and health checks for all campers. A designated health
checker and camp staff will welcome families at drop-off for camp. Before allowing a child admittance to the program,
the child’s temperature will be checked and the staff member will ask questions such as:
         ○ Was any fever reducing medication administered?
         ○ Does your child have any of the following symptoms: fever, cough, or shortness of breath?
         ○ Do any household members have the following symptoms: fever, cough, or shortness of breath?
         ○ Has your child been in close contact with anyone diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past 14 days?
         ○ Have you traveled outside of New Jersey within the past 14 days to a state that requires self-quarantine?
If “yes” was the answer to any of the questions asked above and/or if your child had a fever of 100.4 or higher,
your child will be excluded from camp. Your child may return to camp once they have had a negative COVID test and
symptoms have improved.
• Immediately entering the program, children are required to wash their hands.
• Staff will follow the same protocol/regulations as above at the Y staff entrance/daily temperature and health
check station.
• Please remember – if your child is sick, for any reason, they must stay home until they are well. Also, if the drop-off/
pick-up person is not feeling well, they should not be dropping off their child to the program, where they may
unintentionally expose their illness to others.
Face Masks:
Campers are required to wear their masks indoors. Campers are not required to wear face masks while outdoors, as
long as they stay within their assigned group. Every camper is required to bring two cloth face masks (labeled with
child’s name) to camp daily.

Hand Washing:
      • Children must wash hands:
		 Upon entering the program
 After sharing supplies within assigned group
		 Before & after meals
		 After using the toilet
      • Staff must wash hands:
 Upon entering the Y and the program location
 After sharing supplies within assigned group
		 Before & after meals
		 After using the toilet
      • Regular hand washing and use of hand sanitizer will be
        encouraged throughout the day.

5
HEALTH & SAFETY
Social Distancing:
        • Camp group size: this will be determined by ACA, CDC & Health Department
guidelines at the time of camp.
        • Campers are required to be permanently assigned to a specific camp group.
The formation of an assigned group is to allow the program to mitigate any
infection spread and is intended to avoid any impact on the entire program
          community and operation.
        • Individuals in an assigned group do not have to social distance while
interacting within their group. Groups must maintain a social distance
(at least 6 feet) from other groups.

Cleaning and Disinfecting:
Our program has created a schedule to clean multiple times daily in addition to
on-demand cleaning with EPA-registered disinfectants. This includes:
       • Sports Equipment
       • Tables/Chairs
       • High Touch areas (faucet handles, door knobs, light switches, etc.)
Camper groups will be assigned their own program supplies, such as: crayons, markers, glue sticks, scissors, etc.

                 WHAT TO BRING TO CAMP
Each day, campers are asked to bring their smiles and several other items to camp. Periodic emails will be sent
out letting parents/guardians know of any additional supplies needed.

Please pack daily:
       • Sneakers/Socks
       • Water Bottle
       • Morning Snack and Brown Bag Lunch
       • Bathing Suit/Towel
       • Change of Clothes
       • Two Face Masks

                                                                                                                    6
