Judi admits she may not know
her Astor from her Zinnia... but
she does love a glorious garden!

  Foreword – By Judi Spiers
tip my trowel to anyone who can turn a
wilderness into a little bit of paradise with
vision and sheer hard work. I can’t pretend
to know much about gardening despite 6
years on the sofa with Alan Titchmarsh at Pebble
Mill. In fact the only thing I ever learned from him
was not to put my bedding plants in until the end
of May, for fear of frost. I remember him once Judi Spiers
coming to film in my garden when I lived in
                                                                     Hospiscare Supporter and Broadcaster
Dorset. He gave a weary sigh at the sight of my
somewhat unprepossessing municipal beds, numerous occasions and a trowel my husband
complimented me on my Montbretia and went! I lost when he was laying some bricks! The bane of

my gardening life is the hose! I have several

abandoned ones on broken reels, each bought
would love to have worked with him during the

Groundforce days where someone came in and
dozen or more assorted washers and connecting
did all the heavy stuff and you just placed a
joints, which swear they are universal and will

to admit nothing quite replaces that sense of
garden cupboard is jammed with old plant pots
wonderment and sheer pleasure when some limp
and dried out bulbs which were meant to be

repotted, boxes of disgustingly smelly blood ‘n

bone which someone told me I ‘must’ have and
years on Facebook and radio with what I call my
which have now congealed into one solid lump.

know that preparation is everything but never feel good. As someone once said: “Gardening is
