Harbor Light Creating Connections Through Christ Pcph.org Presbyterian Church of Palm Harbor October 2018 A Safe Harbor where the Light of Christ Jesus directs all who are adrift to anchor themselves in Him. Creating Connections Through Christ From Pastor Bruce Dear PCPH Family, In Matthew 6:19-21, Jesus says: “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal; but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Sometimes we think of our treasure as a chest full of gold and jewels, win- ning the lottery or a robust retirement plan.
Scripture says the treasure we have is life in Jesus Christ to whom we are called and claimed in the Church and for whom we are being equipped to live out and proclaim the Gospel. A few weeks ago, we began our Stewardship Drive. The bottom line for the 2019 Budget is $292,500.00. The total breakdown is: Personnel $190,000.00 Buildings & Grounds $50,000.00 Administration $27,000.00 Church Life Fellowship $13,000.00 Children Youth & Family $8,500.00 Worship $4,000.00 Stewardship is both an act of worship and gratitude as well as an obligation of a disciple of Jesus Christ. Each week at the Presbyterian Church of Palm Harbor part of our worship is receiving offerings and gifts used for its Life and Mission.
Of course, the true value of money is used in sharing, serving, equipping and discipling all flowing from a full and joyful heart. We ask that you prayerfully discern your gift for the coming year. If you have not received a pledge card, please contact us at the Church Office, 727-784-7274. This year, Stewardship Sunday is October 21. Shalom, Bruce

October 2018 Creating Connections Through Christ Page 5 Church Library News During the summer months, the library committee has continued to work on the large amount of donations that we have received. Since it takes a lot of steps to get books ready for the shelves, this is a slow process. We are also purging the card files when we find a book has disappeared from our shelves. This is another time consuming job. Remember we can always use new members on our committee. These books were added to the children’s collection this month: Children’s Fiction (Just in time for Halloween & Fall.): Pumpkin Countdown by Joan Holub – Learning to count down from twenty at the pumpkin patch field trip.
Mouse’s First Fall by Lauren Thompson – Mouse & Minka enjoy the beauty of the fallen leaves. Non-Fiction Thirty Balloons, An Adoption Tale by Brooke Cooney (Written as a story.) Adult Non-Fiction Did God Create in 6 Days? Edited by Joseph A. Pipa & David W. Hall – Essays written by presenters at a Presbyterian conference expressing different opinions about creation. Exceeding Gratitude for the Creator’s Plan by Dr. James P. Gills – See ordinary become extraordinary through the eyes of your loving creator!
