Steps towards the Hellenic Brain Council HSfN has taken the initiative and invited other societies and groups, in order to launch the Greek Brain Council in 2019/2020 We have sent 15 invitation letters and already had positive responses from 10 of them: 9 scientific societies (Psychiatrists, Neurologists, Neuroscientists), 1 Caregivers Network. These include: - Hellenic Neurological Society - Hellenic Academy of Neuroimmunology - Greek Carers Network EPIONI - Hellenic Neurosurgical Society - Hellenic Psychiatric Association - Institute of Stress Biology and Medicine
Steps towards the Hellenic Brain Council Next steps - Contact Patient Associations and Industry members - Participate in advocacy to newly elected Greek MEPs (one of them a psychiatrist) - Advocate to the newly elected government - Finalize bylaws and incorporate HBC as a legal entity in Greece - Our Society would be very happy to host the Academy of National Brain Councils in Greece in 2020
Challenges - Involve patient associations and convince them for the new initiative - Increase impact on Greek politicians - Participate as a stakeholder in the upcoming government initiative for “Personalized Medicine in neurodegenerative disorders” - Increase impact on Greek ministries of Health and Research - Raise funding from Foundations and benefactors - Increase media awareness on the societal impact of Brain diseases
