Key Moments in the History of Curating provides a guide to
important turning points in the last 100 years of exhibition-making.
Over three weeks we will focus on key exhibitions that changed
the course of contemporary curating in order to achieve a richer
understanding of where we stand today, as well as to gain creative
insights from some of the innovative ideas of the past.
Through concrete case studies, the course aims to give
participants a grounding in the history of significant exhibitions as
well as to provide inspirations for future directions in curating.

                                   Creative Thinking:
                                   Developing a Curatorial Concept
                                   with Nora Mayr
In this module, we will go through different phases of developing a
curatorial concept, starting from brainstorming to defining your topic
to organizing your content and finally editing and refining information.
We will look at the potential of narration and scenography for a
curatorial project as well as test different ways of visualizing ideas.
By moving through the research phases and gaining feedback
along the way, participants will develop a strong foundation
of information that will be used in their curatorial project.

                                   with Lauren Reid
This course will explore interesting strategies in exhibition-
making and ways of thinking about curating contemporary art by
sharing a wide variety of innovative curatorial approaches that are
designed to inspire. Expanding Exhibitions aims to open up ways
of thinking about your curatorial practice from the white cube and
beyond: from boundary-pushing curatorial concepts, to exhibiting

                                   with Karina Griffith
The art of grant writing involves conviction, imagination and
stamina. The key is to convince funding bodies that a) your project
fits their bill, b) you can achieve what you propose and c) only you
can do just that. This requires not only an understanding of your
own skills and talents, but good comprehension of needs and
desires of the people who will give you the resources you need.
At the end of this course, participants will have the
skills to create and outline for writing a grant proposal,
evaluate grants and calls for funding for suitability,
