John Deere
    Pavilion
It’s more than seeing.
It’s doing.
The John Deere Pavilion. It’s a hands-on
experience. You can touch the machines and climb
on board. Get the real feel of a job site as you take
the controls of a dozer or excavator simulator.
It’s about staying in touch. Where we’ve been
and where we’re going. How we touch the lives of
people around the world, from the food they eat
to the highways they drive on to the homes they
live in. And how our products help improve the
quality of life for people everywhere.
And, of course, it's one of the biggest displays
of John Deere equipment and technology in the
world. Vintage machines alongside today’s world-
class John Deere agriculture, construction, and
forestry equipment. Plus, you can take a peek at
the future, the innovative machines that will be
working the fields, construction sites and homes
of the future.
There are all kinds of things for kids to see, do,
learn, and, yes, touch. Including our ever-popular,

John Deere
Historic Site
                An anvil and a plow.
                The rest is history.
Grand Detour, Ill., is where it all began back in
1837. It's where John Deere set up his small
blacksmith shop and worked long days on an
anvil and a dream. It's where he created the first
commercially successful steel plow, and helped
make the American Midwest one of the greatest
                food-producing lands in the world.
Go back to the beginning at the John Deere
Historic Site. See a faithful replica of the original
shop, where you’ll experience the blacksmithing
trade of the day — sparks included. Walk the
grounds and tour the original Deere family home,
authentic, right down to the period furniture.
We didn’t forget a thing. You won’t either.

                Open Wednesday–Sunday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m., May–October.
Admission is $5.00. Kids under 12 get in free.
