Scott!Blalock,!a!256year!hospitality!industry!veteran,!brings!extensive!operational,!sales!and!

the!Marriott!Indianapolis!Downtown!Convention!Hotel,!and!opened!the!JW!Marriott!Indianapolis!as!

With!more!than!24!years!of!hospitality!experience,!and!all!within!the!Marriott!family,!Jay!Spurr!leads!
JW!Marriott!Austin’s!sales!and!marketing!team!as!the!director!of!sales!and!marketing.!Spurr!has!held!
a!number!of!positions!within!the!Marriott!brand!from!a!front!desk!supervisor!and!executive!meeting!
manager!to!the!sales!and!marketing!director!at!two!Marriott!hotels.!Most!recently,!Spurr!served!as!
director!of!sales!and!marketing!at!the!Chicago!Marriott!Downtown!Magnificent!Mile!where!he!
helped!lead!his!team!to!the!most!successful!group!room!night!and!total!hotel!sales!in!the!296year!
history!of!the!hotel.!He!also!led!his!sales!and!marketing!teams!through!a!successful!$366million!
renovation!of!the!hotel.!Prior!to!his!position!in!Chicago,!Spurr!served!as!the!area!director!of!sales!for!

The$JW$Marriott$Austin$will$achieve$a$LEED$Silver$certification$and$two;star$Austin$Energy$
Green$Building$rating.$A$few$of$the$hotel’s$environmental$features$will$include$low;
emitting$materials,$such$as$paints$and$coatings$that$are$certified$for$indoor$air$quality,$and$
the$use$of$regional$materials$to$cut$down$on$the$delivery$distance.!

• Developing!a!site!from!a!parking!lot!to!a!building!–!Replacing!a!parking!lot!is!good!
for!the!environment!since!hard,!flat!surfaces!keep!rainwater!from!penetrating!the!
ground.!Parking!lots!also!promote!the!use!of!cars!and!create!heat!islands!that!
attract!and!trap!heat!in!the!city.!

• Direct!access!to!public!transportation!(bus!and!train)!

• Provide!bicycle!storage!for!employees!and!guests!

• Implement!waterKefficient!landscaping,!including!the!elimination!of!all!potable!
water!for!irrigation!by!harvesting!storm!water!
