RURAL FYLDE
Pretty villages and towns
Rural Fylde has many little villages, tea shops, country lanes and quality places to eat, yet is only a short drive from the
coast, the motorway or Blackpool and Preston. Why not visit The Ship in Elswick, Ribby Hall, The Miller Arms, The
Cartford Inn, Glasform or The Birley Arms to name a few?
The historic market town of Kirkham appears in the Domesday Book of 1086 under the name of Chicheham. These days
there are a good range of shops and places to eat such as Escape Café, Book Bean & Ice Cream and a regular market on
Thursdays. For more information follow @kirkhamtown on twitter.
For the more adventurous, the Blackpool Wake Park in Weeton has a 10 acre lake for wakeboarding, stand up paddle
boarding, kayaking and open water swimming.

                                                                                                                               17

a large duck pond, known to locals as the ‘dub’ which is home to a population of well fed ducks. In summer relax and
watch a game of cricket or have a picnic in this fantastic village setting. You can eat at the Villa Hotel, Orathai Restaurant,
