Sport and Recreation: First Aid Incursion
On Friday 1 September all students who are taking the Sport and
Recreation VET course had a first aid incursion. The students learnt how
to perform proper first aid procedures following the DRSABCD process.
Students experienced a hands-on approach to learning first aid, they
practiced assessing first aid scenarios such as patients passing out,
having heart attacks and even broken limbs. Students learnt how to
properly wrap bandages of many body parts. Students even learnt how
to deal with bites from snakes and other venomous creatures. Of course,
students also
took in the
legal side of
first aid and
all had a go

To summarise all students really appreciated the day
and learnt a lot. The IVET instructor did an amazing
job. First aid is beneficial for all students across all
career aspirations especially if they are wanting to
have careers in the health and medical industries.

International table tennis tournament
On Wednesday 13 September, the Year 7 Table Tennis Team represented Mount Alexander College at the
Inter School Table Tennis Tournament. We were hosted by a table tennis enthusiast at the Coburg Table Tennis
Stadium.
The stadium was full of tables and some of them
were worth $5000. We had lots of fun playing and
when we weren’t playing, we were scoring games
or cheering on our team mates. We made a
heap of friends including a guy from Buckley Park
called Eric who gave us each a sour strap as were
packing up to leave.
On the way back to school we stopped at the
Coburg Park and found inventive ways to slide
down the slide. Despite the cold weather, we all
enjoyed a Slurpee on the journey back to school
and none of us minded the fact that we got back
to school soaking wet.
