and have been for many years!
At Avery Zweckform, we have been continuously working for many years to take our share of
responsibility for other human beings and for the environment - long before the Friday for Future
movement even started. We believe that it's not the big hooray that counts so much, but rather
the many little steps that help us make our business a little better and a little more responsible
every single day: for our customers, for our environment and for our employees.
1. RESPONSIBILITY for the environment:
Recycled products:
For more than 30 years we have been offering recycled form books, and for a few years now, we
also offer a large range of recycled labels, some of which fulfil the strict criteria of the
"Blue Angel", making them stand for particularly high environmental standards.
Products made of FSC® certified paper*:
Already in 2008, we have converted 900 of our standard label
products from normal materials to paper from responsibly
managed forests. This process has been covered by the strict
regulations of the FSC® , this way we make sure that the wood
required for the production of paper is re-afforested within a
sustainable, recycling economy.
Environmental management at our site:
For many years, we have continuously reduced emissions and waste in our company in order to
protect men, air, water and soil. For example, we use environmentally friendly toners and varnish-
es in our production whenever possible. Since 2008, we could reduce the amount of our waste by
more than 40%. All remaining waste is being environmentally friendly recycled or disposed.
These measurements are regularly monitored and confirmed by independent testing institutes in
accordance with the norms ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
Use of environmentally friendly energy at our site:
Since 2014, we have been using exclusively eco energy and eco gas. Additionally, we are continu-
ously working on projects to reduce the use of energy at our site, for example by switching to LED
lighting or the investment and implementation of new, energy saving machines in the production.

Climate-neutral site:
Since 2020, our site in Oberlaindern is climate-neutral! Although our ecological footprint has E-NEUT

already been pretty good compared to the industry, we have decided to level out the remaining

CO2 emissions completely by specifically supporting a forestation project in Brazil and a hydro-
power project in Uganda. The support for these projects gives us the chance to actively take more

responsibility for the environmental protection in South America and for a sustainable and M PA N
economic development in Africa.

2. RESPONSIBILITY for people around us:
Inclusion project sheltered workshop:
15 years ago, we have intensified an existing cooperation by starting a pioneering inclusion project
with the Oberland Behindertenwerkstätten (local sheltered workshop) at our site. Today, more
than 20 people with disabilities work together with us in our production and logistic departments.
These colleagues are entirely integrated in our daily working life, also using all our facilities at our
site, e.g. the company canteen.
3. RESPONSIBILITY for our employees:
Health program:
We offer our employees an attractive and well-mapped out health program with offers in the area
prevention and health promotion. These include for example health screens, massages, medical
consultations and sport courses.
Bicycle Leasing:
We offer a bicycle leasing program for our employees to keep fit and healthy in their leisure time
and/or on their daily way to work.
Healthy communal catering:
In our company canteen, we offer also organic and regional sourced food for a sustainable and
healthy nutrition, of course exclusively on reusable dishes and cutlery. Additionally, we provide
water coolers for the entire staff to avoid unnecessary packaging and transport of drinks.

That's why we continue to pursuit even better and more responsible solutions: to unite ecological, social and economic
goals and values in a meaningful and reasonable way while considering and fulfilling the needs and the requirements of
our customers to the best of our abilities.
Our core goals in the area of ecological and social responsibility are:
1. Until 2025, we are striving for all our Avery Zweckform products to fulfil defined
sustainability criteria. We want to continuously minimize the ecological footprint of our
products.
The following sustainability criteria are the compass for our products and packaging. Each product should meet at least one of
these criteria by December 31st, 2025:
The "Blaue Engel":
This is the most known German eco certification. The "Blaue Engel" guarantees that all paper
fibres are obtained from 100% recycled paper without any addition of harmful chemicals or optical
brighteners in the production process. Additionally, it secures a production of print products, for
example our form books, with harmless toners and varnishes as well as low-emission adhesives.
100 % Recycled:
Paper material marked with this logo consists of 100% recycled waste paper. This saves our forests
because not a single tree needs to be felled and valuable habitat for animals and plants can be
preserved.
FSC® certified paper
This criteria marks products made of FSC® certified paper. FSC® certified paper is the most
demanding label for products made of paper from sustainably managed forests.

Already today, the largest part of the processed raw materials, packaging materials and finished
goods are from Germany or European neighbour countries - this means shorter transport routes,

We are continuing to reduce and/or eliminate the use of non- and/or less environmentally friendly

and harmful substances and materials in our products and packagings (e.g. PVC, chlorine, silicone
etc.) wherever technologically, ecologically and economically sensible and feasible.

2. We support our customers to use their Avery Zweckform product from start to end responsibly
and environmentally sustainably.
Apart from the production of a product, its usage (including disposal) also plays a
substantial role for the eco balance of this product. That's why we show our customers
how they can purchase and use Avery Zweckform products in a responsible and
resource-saving way.
• We support the testing and recommendation of particularly environmentally
friendly products and solutions.
• We research, work out and communicate ecological and sustainable usage and/or
disposal recommendations.
How do I correctly dispose of labels?
• Our packaging consists of at least 80% recycled material and can be disposed of with
the waste paper
• The disposal of labels depends on what kind of surfaces they stick: a paper envelope
goes into the waste paper bin, a glass bottle goes into the glass container bank.
• The empty label sheet needs to go into the residual waste bin, because the recycling
companies are unfortunately not yet able to separate the silicon layer from the paper.
At least the energy from the incineration is fed back into the district heating system.
3. We offer our employees up-to-date and flexible working conditions that fulfil the ecological
and social requirements of a modern society.
Within a society with a more and more digital and environmental awareness, Avery Zweckform is
going to offer new solutions for working models, mobility and health:
• The introduction of new mobile office concepts offers the possibility to better reconcile the
demands of professional and private life, also relieving commuter traffic.
• With the development of electric charging stations we promote e-mobility on our site.
Additionally, we are changing our company fleet to environmentally friendly driving concepts.
• We will further develop our proven health program, that has very successfully been running
for years, within a holistic health prevention & promotion approach and adapt it to the
requirements of tomorrow.

Can you print on the label?
The labels can be printed with all standard b/w laser printers or
colour laser printers. However: less is more! If possible, the label
should not be printed full face. Otherwise, the toner of the laser
printer would cover the antimicrobial surface of the label com-
pletely or to such an extent that the effectiveness is not given any
more in that area.
