WINTER EXPERIENCES BOOKING — BEFORE ARRIVING IN TROMSØ Many of the activities are in popular demand and some of the providers offer smaller groups, so this makes it important to consider booking the activities in advance. If you find a tour you really like, make sure to get a place booked before you leave for Tromsø and Northern Norway.

the tour. With a full score, the guide will try to go wherever the likeliness of seeing
the lights are greatest. With a lower score, your location is fixed, but you will see
the lights if the weather is clear and there is Northern Lights activity. There are of
course no guarantees, this is meant to help you choose the tour that suits you best.

When taking photos of the Northern Lights, consider these
advice from famous Northern Lights hunter Kjetil Skogli:
Equipment: A DSLR /compact camera with manual settings to
adjust shutterspeed, aperture, ISO and focus.
• A wide angel lens ( aperture f3.5 is good enough, but f2.8
and lower is better)
• Tripod to prevent shaking
• Cable or remote releaser
• Microfibre cloth
• Headtorch with possibility for red lights
• ISO: 100 – 800 (or higher if needed)
• Aperture: lowest possible.
• Shutterspeed: 5 and 25 seconds.
• Focus: Manual focus set to infinity. Zoom in on preview to
check if the stars are sharp
Extra tip: Some moonlight over the landscape makes the
photo even more interesting.

We have established four Base Stations which cover different areas with different weather re-
gimes, allowing us to choose the station with the best chances of clear sky. This gives our guests
the best possible chance of experiencing the Northern Lights. Each station also has a warm
shelter, campfires/benches outside, toilet facilities and a local host to tell their own stories.

We chase the Northern Lights and where we go depends on the weather conditions. If the sky
is clear on the coast, we normally head there with a fantastic view of the mountains with the
sea in the background. During the evening we always change location a couple of times to get
different backgrounds and try to avoid light pollution. If cloudy on the coast, we head further
east, sometimes to the Finnish border.

Larsen, who during the past four seasons have driven a total of 593 trips and have seen the

your camera for Northern Lights pictures, to prepare you for the night and the rest of your stay

Buvik Brygge has an idyllic location on the water’s edge. In this typical North Norwegian rural
