5 Annual Conference Programme 2018 We have an amazing and diverse lineup of speakers who will get you thinking, motivated, and entertained, including… Michele A’Court- Winner of “Female Comedian of the Decade” at the 2010 NZ Comedy Guild Awards, she is a fulltime professional stand-up comedian and freelance writer. Her work turns up everywhere - on stage, television, radio; in newspapers and magazines - and she is in demand as a comic, an event MC, and also as a social commentator across all media. Michele has been writing a weekly column for the Christchurch Press since 2008 and relishes the opportunity to comment on current social issues. She is also a frequent contributor to several national NZ magazines including Next and Her Business. Tamati Coffey- Kiwi personality, defining the outcome of the last election. By winning the Waiariki seat, he made a clean sweep of the Mãori electorates for Labour, robbing the opposition of a potential coalition partner. His grass-roots campaign was driven by a strong focus on issues such as housing, Mãori land and mental health. As part of the current progressive Coalition Government, he is proudly helping to address the housing crisis in our community, which aims to ensure all Kiwis can enjoy a warm, dry, healthy place to call home. William Liuis an internationally recognized metallurgy and tribology specialist employed by SGS. As a former associate professor and with 40 years experience in industry,William provides consultancy of failure and defect analysis in high-end market. In the last four years, he has published eight articles in the renowned international academic journal, Engineering Failure Analysis, and contributed a book chapter to “Handbook of Materials Failure Analysis”, featuring alongside leading professors from around the world. He is a certificated reviewer for two Elsevier journals, Engineering Failure Analysis and Corrosion Science. Last year, he also received an award of Outstanding Contribution in Reviewing from Elsevier.
Per Osslonhas considerable international experience with fire engineering design and building codes, gained while working as a practicing fire engineer in Australia, Sweden, New Zealand, and Hong Kong during the last 25 years. Although he has been based in those four countries he has managed projects in over 20 nations including Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Russia, UK, France, Poland, Ireland, US, Dubai, Pakistan, India, Qatar, Abu Dhabi, South Africa, Hong Kong, China, Singapore,Thailand, Malaysia, Australia, and New Zealand. He is one of the leading experts in fire safety engineering design in Australasia and recognised globally as an expert in his field.

Nature World PRIZES • The winner of each category will be presented a certificate at the NZIBS Gala Awards Dinner 2018.
• The overall winner (Best Photo Competition Award 2018), will be presented a trophy at the NZIBS Gala Awards Dinner 2018. Prizes are not redeemable for cash, are not transferable to any other person. TERMS & CONDITIONS • To enter in one or all three categories, you must be a current NZIBS Member. • The photos must be at least 1MB in size, but not larger than 12 MB each. • Each entrant can submit up to 3 photos per category. • If an entrant submits more than 3 photos or a picture larger than 12MB, the entrant will be disqualified. • Entries must be received before Friday 18 August 2018, 12 noon • Each photo will be moderated and any photo with inappropriate content will be excluded and the entrant disqualified from the competition.
Every entrant warrants that submitted photos do not infringe on the copyrights, trademarks, moral rights, rights of privacy / publicity or intellectual property rights of any person or entity, and that no other party has any right, title, claim or interest in the photo (s) submitted. 7 Annual Conference Programme 2018 NZIBS Gala Awards Dinner: Main Award of the evening NZIBS Excellence in Building Surveying 2018 The annual NZIBS Gala Awards recognise the importance of those who participate in, and support, our strategy and purpose to grow excellence within the building surveying profession throughout New Zealand.The NZIBS Excellence Award is the New Zealand quality award that recognises a NZIBS Registered Member with excellence and sustainable results across all areas of the Building Surveying profession.The NZIBS Excellence Award recognises an individual practitioner within NZIBS who has demonstrated a high standard of professionalism, sharing the Institute’s vision through creativity, connections and innovation.
Judging Panel: Morrison Kent Lawyers representation, 1 NZIBS executive member, 1 experienced non-executive NZIBS member. Eligibility To be eligible for the 2018 NZIBS Excellence in Building Surveying awards the nominee must: • be a current NZIBS Registered Member, who has been registered for more than 3 years and is based in New Zealand Criteria Considering the roles and responsibilities within the building surveying profession, the nominee must have contributed, enhanced and demonstrated best practice in a range of categories. Entries will not be accepted relating to an individual that is not an NZIBS Current Registered Member, whom has been registered for less than 3 years. Nomination Nominations can be made in confidence, i.e. without the nominee’s knowledge, or with disclosure. Nominations can be received from any individual who has detailed knowledge of the work carried out by the nominee, including, but not limited to: • Building Surveyors • Construction Lawyers • Project Managers • Building Owners • Building Managers Nominations cannot be received from the nominee (no self-nomination is allowed). Nominations must be accompanied by sufficient information for the judging panel to determine whether the nomination meets the criteria.This must include at least the following: • The name of the candidate nominated for the award, • The basis of the nomination, i.e. which criteria is satisfied, • A summary of the project or contribution and the nominee’s involvement, • The outcome of the project or contribution and how the nominee contributed to its success • A description of the nominators involvement with the project or contribution.
Further information may be sought by the judging panel as required. Juding Process STAGE 1: Entries open for this award on Friday 1 June 2018. All entries received by the closing date will be processed to make sure they meet the eligibility criteria. Closing date: Friday 17 August 2018. STAGE 2: An independent judging panel will be provided by Morrison Kent Lawyers. and NZIBS to review the entries to identify the extent to which each nomination satisfies the criteria listed above. STAGE 3: Up to three finalists will be identified in this category from the accepted entries.The finalists will be notified of their nomination and shortlisting and given the opportunity to opt out of the process if they wish. STAGE 4:The judging panel will contact the nominator(s) and, if required, the finalists, to seek further information in relation to the evidence provided in the entry, if required.The nomination information and any additional information gathered will be considered by the judging panel.
STAGE 5:The panel will decide the NZIBS Excellence in Building Surveying winner - Supreme Award 2018. Terms and Conditions All NZIBS Current members can nominate a current NZIBS Registered Member, who has been registered for more than 3 years. Evidence is a key part of an Awards entry. Make sure the evidence you present relates to the criteria above.The experts and judges will be looking for insights to how the individual links to the above points and outcomes. Please provide evidence by giving an overview of up to 500 words and or attach a file.

It also helps to promote teamwork as one score is recorded per hole and generally minimises the amount of time looking for lost balls. Ambrose is played in teams of two, three or four. The team selects a captain on the tee (usually the lowest marker) and they decide on the order of play. All members of your team tee off.Team members compare results and decide which of the drives is best.All team members then play their second shots from the location of the best drive.
Repeat this process until the ball is in the hole. During the course of the round all player’s drives must be used on a set number of occasions. Generally, this is a minimum of three times for each player.

16 Terms and Conditions: 1. All prices indicated are exclusive of GST 2. NZIBS ticketing for the conference is through NZIBS website www.buildingsurveyors.co.nz. Credit card processing fees are applicable otherwise select the online banking which does not apply a surcharge. For a large group of registrations, please send a list of names, email addresses and conference activites through to E: firstname.lastname@example.org. 3. NZIBS Members Early bird special – any discounted fees offered on registration, must be paid before or on 3 July 2018. Early bird registrations close on 1 July 2018. Any payment after that date will be subject to the standard conference fee.
4. NZIBS Conference day registrations - The registration fee covers the Friday conference programme, morning, lunch and afternoon tea, and the Saturday morning conference programme, morning tea only and a delegate gift. 5. The NZIBS Gala Awards Dinner registration fee covers the cost of one welcome drink, canapes, a buffet dinner, cultural show, gala dinner speaker and the gala dinner programme only. A cash bar will be available. 6. To be eligible for the NZIBS Member registration rate, you need to be a current NZIBS full, transitional or a student member.
7. Registrations close on 1 September 2018, 5pm or until sold out. Payment is required prior to or on 5 September 2018, 5pm. Payment confirms your attendance to the NZIBS Annual Conference 2018. Any registrations received after 1 September 2018 may not be accepted. 8. If no payment has been received by 5 September 2018 your registration will be cancelled. 9. Any completed manual registration form or any completed online registration will receive a confirmation of attendance email after payment has been received.
10. All attendees must provide their confirmation attendance email from NZIBS, this will give you entry to the NZIBS Annual Conference 2018. No confirmation, no entry. 11. If you have a dietary requirements these will need to be provided in writing prior to 1 September 2018.The venue is unable to accommodate your dietary requirements if advised on the day or a week prior. 12. No refund will be given for any cancellations 30 days and under prior to the Annual Conference 2018 date. Substitutes are welcome.
13. The NZIBS Gala Awards dress attire: Black tie or Smart Business Dress (No Jeans Please). 14. The NZIBS Gala Award nominations open for the NZIBS Excellence in Building Surveying 2017, on 1 June 2018. This Award category will be open to any NZIBS current member, when nominating a NZIBS Registered Member, entries will close on 17 August 2018. Please refer to the online NZIBS Official Entry form for terms and conditions in relation to this Award Category, on the NZIBS website. All applications will be held in confidence.
15. All activities need to meet the minimum attendance numbers for NZIBS to operate the activity.
