OBERRIED - IPC WORLD CUP - Weltcup Oberried
THE
 EVENT

In succession of the World Cups in 2001, 2010
and 2014, the International Paralympic Committee
(IPC) has now commissioned the Ski Club Oberried
to host a biathlon World Cup for the fourth time.
The event is scheduled for January 2018 at the Nordic
         Center Notschrei.

In the run-up to the Paralympics, which will be
held in 2018 like the Olympic Games in Pyongyang,
athletes want to qualify for good results for the
         Paralympics.

In addition to European teams, the starter field
also includes participants from the USA, Australia
and Asia. Wheelchair users in the ski area, visually
impaired athletes with accompanying athletes as
well as athletes with physical limitations on arms
or legs show outstanding athletic performances
at the Nordic-Center Notschrei facility in Freiburg.
In total the Ski Club Oberried again expects about
250 participants from 20 nations at the World Cup
         in the Black Forest.

The media interest in the 2014 event was very
large. For example, the ZDF used the only Biathlon
World Cup in disability sport in Germany to
produce extensive footage, which was then used
in the coverage of the Paralympic Games in Sochi.
In 2018 the World Cup in Oberried will also be
the only biathlon event in the field of disabled
         sport in Germany.

                                                                 3

SKICLUB OBERRIED AND
    THE COMMUNITY OBERRIED

The Ski Club Oberried was founded in 1969 and has nearly 800
members. Besides Alpine and Nordic Sports, walking, hiking and
mountain biking belongs to the program. In 2006 the club was
awarded the Josef Ertl Award by the German Ski Association for its
outstanding youth work. Around 40 skiing instructors and trainers
take care of the implementation of the events of the association.

The club conducted parasport events for the first time in 1995 – the connection
was created by Roland Gäss at that time active member of the national disabled
team. But also, long after the end of his active career, the Ski Club Oberried
committed in disabled sports, allowing the carrying out of international sporting
        events in the black forest.

Oberried is located in the south of the
Dreisamtal, a few kilometers east of Freiburg.
        With Feldberg, Belchen and Schauinsland,
the highest mountains of the Southern Black
Forest are directly adjacent. 2,900 people
live in Oberried, the territory covers an area
of 6,632 ha and 450 to 1,430 meters above
        sea level.

        Tourism and agriculture are important
economic sectors of the community, a large
number of small crafts and service companies

center for junior and top athletes the Olympic Sports Center
Freiburg-Schwarzwald (OSP) provides its regional sporting activities with comprehensive
support services and constantly evolving training facilities. Since the establishment of the
OSP in 1988, athletes of the Paralympic disciplines cross country and Biathlon that are
located in this area have been included in this promotion.

Due to the successful concentration of the squad athletes of the German Disabled Sports
Association (DBS) at the Olympic Sports Center Freiburg-Schwarzwald, the location was
recognized as a Paralympic training camp of the DBS in 2011 using both the training
center and other facilities at the OSP in Freiburg and the Nordic Center Notschrei.

In addition to the sporting support provided by highly qualified trainers and supervisors,
the OSP supports the squad members of the DBS in a variety of ways. Besides the support
of trainers, sports physicians, physiotherapists, nutrition consultants and sports psychologists,
the best possible educational and professional support for the athletes with the aim of a
successful dual career is also provided. At the beginning of the 2015/2016 school year, for
the first time, two DBS junior athletes will benefit from the inclusion in the sports center,
a comprehensive support by the OSP and good training conditions all year round at the
      Nordic Center Notschrei.

With the installation of a large training and diagnostic exercise in August 2015, trainers
and athletes from the German Disability Sport Association have been able to find even
more improved conditions for the year-long technique and perpetual training, as well as
biomechanical and performance-diagnostic examinations of the cross-country skiers
and biathletes. At the athletic athletes‘ athletic athletes who have already been planned
for the Freiburg-based athletic athletics facility, they are almost perfect conditions for
      a successful sporting development.

PARALYMPIC
       MOTION

The sport has the power to change the world. He has the power to connect people
(Nelson Mandela) - just like nothing else. Integration and inclusion are becoming
more and more important in our society - both of which greatly increase the quality
of life of people with disabilities. With their achievements, the athletes demonstrate
impressively, to which outstanding abilities humans with disability are capable.
With their performance and the sporting successes, they serve as a model for many.

„Spirit in Motion“ is the motto of the International Paralympic Committee. The vision
of the IPC is to enable handicapped athletes to perform top athletic performances
 and to inspire the world.

The IPC is one of the largest sports organizations in the world. Established in 1989,
the IPC is still a dynamic emerging organization comprising over 160 national
Paralympic committees and five international disability sport organizations.

The IPC organizes the Paralympic Summer and Winter Games as well as the World
Championships and Regional Championships in 13 sports. The area of Nordic ski
sport is one of four areas of winter sports in addition to the 21 summer sports.

Since 1992, the Paralympics have always been held at the place where the games
of non-disabled athletes take place. The public perception and appreciation of the
services has once again significantly improved.

                                                                                         9
