          entertainment & the arts
October to january 2018/19 - Clare's beating heart for entertainment & the arts - Glor.ie
As the summer light fades and school begins, it is the
perfect time to plot out your evenings' entertainment
for the months ahead! glór has a packed programme of
exciting artists and theatre, music, dance, film, comedy
to appeal to everyone. Highlights that I am particularly
looking forward to include: our Associate Artist Dave
Flynn, and The Irish Memory Orchestra, (4-5 Oct), How
to Catch a Star by Branar Theatre, (22-23 Oct), The Irish
Chamber Orchestra, (18 Oct), A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man
by Rough Magic, (27 Oct) and of course our annual MÓRglór Award to
celebrate the exceptional concertina player Chris Droney, (17 Nov). It is
wonderful to see audiences growing for our fortnightly Tuesday evening
film season too - and the new monthly afternoon matinée will hopefully
appeal to parents with babies, amongst others. We will continue to
support artists in creating work, with various initiatives including
Soundings, our Artist Supper Clubs, PlatForms and our Associate Artist
scheme. I hope you will agree that it will be an autumn to look forward
          to at glór!

chance to get a flavour of the play whilst in development.

PlatForms

free to attend for audiences and will illuminate the creative process and the
choices that artists make. (See page 16)
Artists interested in applying should visit www.glor.ie/news - closing date
for artist applications Wed 28 Oct.

Soundings
This autumn glór will launch a new initiative inviting a traditional
music/dance artist to collaborate with another performance artist to spend
a week together creating innovative new sounds. We are delighted to kick
off this new exchange of ideas between fiddler Tola Custy and sound artist
Natalia Beylis. See page 13 for details of their performative installation on
Wed 14 Nov.
