Old School Square 2018-19 Season
Delray Beach, FL – August 14th, 2018 – Old School Square announces the 2018-19 Season of
performances and exhibitions.

OLD SCHOOL SQUARE VENUES
Crest Theatre – Presents a diverse selection of cabaret, comedy, concerts and family shows.
Cornell Art Museum – Presents contemporary art exhibitions with innovative and provocative works by
nationally and internationally recognized artists. The Museum also presents two juried fine art shows: Fall
Art on the Square 2018 and Spring Art on the Square 2019 and monthly Art Walk events with month-long
exhibitions by local art groups in the Spotlight Gallery.
Fieldhouse -- Formerly known as the Vintage Gymnasium; hosts a variety of community events and rental
activity such as wedding receptions, private parties and fundraisers.
Pavilion -- A state-of-the-art performance venue located on the center grounds. Presents Free Friday
Concerts, ticketed concerts and the Delray Beach Craft Beer Fest.
Creative Arts School - Located on the second floor of the Crest Theatre building, the School offers
beginner through master level classes in art, photography, digital imaging and writing, for adults and youth,
during fall/winter and spring/summer sessions.
Old School Square Park – The great lawn area east of Old School Square’s center grounds.

The Cornell Art Museum celebrates the opening of "Tech Effect", an exhibition exploring the influence of
technology on contemporary art. The exhibition features approximately 12 artists, 6 of whom will be
attending the opening to speak with guests about their artwork. Visitors will enjoy light bites and a cash bar,
while viewing the new exhibition.

Technology is all around us, and the Cornell Art Museum is exploring the way that tech has influenced
contemporary art with its newest exhibition, "Tech Effect." The show features about 12 artists whose work
deals with technology in some way. Museum visitors will be fascinated by augmented reality works,
interactive touch screen works, the prevalence of social media in contemporary art, artwork that utilizes
code, and countless ways that technology is integrated into contemporary art.

October 5, 2017 – Season Launch Party

The public is invited to a season launch party with a sneak peek of what’s new for the 2018-19 season! Get
a glimpse of the shows in the Crest Theatre; enjoy a showcase of works by Creative Arts School students
and instructors; upstairs, the Creative Arts School studios and classrooms will be open, and instructors will
be on hand to talk about the exciting fall offerings. Visit the Fieldhouse, next door, to see one of Palm
Beach County’s most unique wedding and event venues, pick up rental information, enjoy entertainment
and refreshments. Then stop at the Cornell Art Museum for First Friday Art Walk Spotlight Gallery featuring
{embedded}; a Florida college student exhibition, and see the new exhibition, Tech Effect. Be sure to stick
around for the Free Friday Concert with Orange Sunshine beginning at 7:30 pm!

Empty Bowls is national grassroots 1-day event that raises money for local hunger relief. This unique event
invites the public to “eat simply, so others can simply eat.” Old School Bakery has provided rustic breads
and local chefs have donated their signature soups. Guests will share in a simple meal of bread, soup, and
water. Each will receive a hand-crafted bowl to take home as a powerful reminder of all the empty bowls in
the community. All proceeds from this fundraising event will benefit the Palm Beach County Food Bank to
fight hunger in our community.

We're celebrating Art Week by bringing the excitement of the art fairs up to Delray Beach! Artists, gallerists,
and art collectors from all over the world will be in South Florida for art week, many of whom work with the
Cornell Art Museum. The Tech Effect exhibition will be on view, and many of our Tech Effect artists are
showing at the Miami art fairs. We'll have about 5 Tech Effect artists attending to discuss their work with
guests in a cocktail party atmosphere, with music, cash bar, and light bites! Guests will meet artists, see
performance art, and enjoy the exhibition!

Time and time again, when the world was in turmoil, music magically helped people get through those

The Crest Cabaret Series presents an unforgettable evening with Broadway stars, EMILY SKINNER and
ALICE RIPLEY. Emily Skinner has established herself as one of Broadway‘s most engaging and versatile
performers. In the fall 2017 Broadway season, she was directed by Hal Prince in his new show PRINCE
OF BROADWAY. Alice Ripley is best known for her Tony Award-winning performance as Diana in NEXT

Technology is all around us, and the Cornell Art Museum is exploring the way that tech has influenced
contemporary art with its newest exhibition, "Tech Effect." The show features about 12 artists whose work
deals with technology in some way. Museum visitors will be fascinated by augmented reality works,
interactive touch screen works, the prevalence of social media in contemporary art, artwork that utilizes
code, and countless ways that technology is integrated into contemporary art.

Old School Square is the center of arts & entertainment in downtown Delray Beach and has served as the
community’s gathering place for over 25 years. The historic campus welcomes half a million people each
year for programs, classes, events and rental activities and includes the intimate Crest Theatre (in the
restored 1925 Delray High School building) the Cornell Art Museum (in the 1913 Delray Elementary
building), and the Fieldhouse (c. 1925). The Pavilion, which opened in 2002, hosts outdoor concerts and
shows. The Creative Arts School (2nd floor of the Crest Theatre building) offers art, photography and
writing classes. Old School Square also serves as a venue for community, corporate, private and media
