This year will mark the 33rd running of the Kansas City Marathon and we are so excited to
welcome Garmin back as our title sponsor! For the second straight year, we have increased
in number of participants! Last year we asked you to help grow the Kansas City Marathon and
make it one of the best races in the Midwest, and all of you amazing local runners responded
by coming out in huge numbers to race, spectate and volunteer. Thank you so much for rallying
around our race!
2018 COURSE
The Kansas City Marathon unveiled a reversed course for 2017 and we are sticking with it.
Runners will tackle the hardest hills during the first half of the race, which will make the
second half of the race easier. This year's course also provides a very fast downhill finish that
includes a breathtaking view of the Kansas City Skyline.
EXPO LOCATION
The Health & Fitness Expo presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City will once
again be held at Kansas City’s historic Union Station. It is free and open to the public on
Thursday and Friday before the race.
If you are unable to pick up your packet in person, you may have someone pick it up on your
behalf. You MUST complete the Packet Pickup Authorization Form and the person picking up
must bring:
• Completed and signed Packet Pickup Authorization Form (if filling out paper form)
• A copy of your registration confirmation (digital or printed)
• Their photo ID

Galloway Running School the evening before the 2018 Kansas City Marathon presented by
Garmin! For just $99, Jeff will give you the information you need to achieve your running
goals at this highly motivating and interactive class. Among other things, Jeff will provide
runners with tips on how to reach their goals injury free, as well as tips on nutrition,
running form, how to pace yourself, running hills, breathing and finishing a race strong.

WESTPORT CHEER ZONE
Westport is excited to join the Kansas City Marathon presented by Garmin as the primary
cheer zone on the course, providing an exciting atmosphere for runners as they pass
through the area at mile 24 of the full marathon and mile 11 of the half-marathon.
Additional streets alongside the race route will be closed, and will feature vendors selling
food and beverages to spectators, as well as live entertainment during the race.

STREETCAR USAGE & PARKING
The KC Streetcar will be running earlier than normal to get runners to the start line. One
streetcar will stop at the North Loop at 7th & Main at about 5:30 a.m. race morning for pick up.
It will head south to Union Station which should take about fifteen minutes. Another streetcar
will follow with pick up at River Market North (3rd & Grand) at 5:30 a.m. Both streetcars will
then continue their loops and the third streetcar will arrive on the route at 7:00 a.m. Links to
