          PRESIDENT’S OFFICE
 Imperial Valley College paid tribute to the
  victims of 9/11 with a Memorial Ceremony held
  on Friday, September 10, 2021 at 8:46 a.m. in
  front of the administration building.

 The 9/11 event was organized by the campus’
  Associated Student Government.

 Thank you to Vietnam War Veteran Thomas
  Henderson who spoke at our event.

                sessions to IVC automotive students
                and Dual Enrollment automotive
                students on Thursday, September 9,
                2021 in Room 3117.

               Presentation explained the New Ford
                Automotive Career Exploration (ACE)
                Program, IVC partnership and
                becoming a certified Ford Motor Co.
                Automotive Technician.

                   Campus Signage and Wayfinding Project

 IVC faculty, classified staff, and administrators staff are working with representa-
  tives of M. Arthur Gensler Jr. and Associates, Inc. to develop an integrated
  strategy for signage, identification of key locations, and wayfinding throughout
  the campus.

 The project team has met four times since its kickoff meeting on June 3, 2021.

 Nursing & Allied Health College and
  Career Day will take place on October 26
  & 27, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

 IVC Students will have an opportunity to
  meet hospitals and health care
  agencies to talk about employment
  opportunities and requirements.

 Students will learn about nursing
  transfer programs.

                                        Public Services Summit will take place on
                                         November 9 & 10, 2021
                                        Full days of interactive activities from
                                         IVC programs (Police Academy, Fire
                                         Tech, EMT, and Corrections)
                                        High School students will meet and
                                         connect with industry professionals.
                                        A total of 200 students are expected.
                                        K-9 presentation by ECPD.

                Introduction to Securities Trading
                 Course being offered October 7th
                 and November 18th from 6-9 p.m.

                Securities Trading is a not-for-credit
                 class that provides an introduction to
                 financial products, markets, trading
                 strategies, and techniques.

                Class will introduce financial data and
                 charts, analyze market conditions,
                 develop trading plans, and perform
                 trades using the Thinkorswim (ToS)
                 trading platform.

League Priority Bills
AB 1456 (Medina) Financial Aid Reform
Would reform the state’s system of financial aid by:
        Creating two new Cal Grant Awards focused on either four-or two-year students.
        Significantly expanding the number of students eligible for awards.
        Two-year award focused on access costs.
Location: Governor’s Desk

AB 928 (Berman) Transfer
Introduced to smooth out the ADT approval, adoption, and utilization process, this bill would:
        Create a committee charged to make recommendations to the legislature on ways
         to improve the transfer process.
        Require the UC and CSU to adopt one unified transfer pathway.
        Require community college students to be automatically enrolled in an ADT program.
         Those who intend to transfer to the UC or prefer a traditional AA would need to opt-out.

AB 1111 (Berman) Common Course Numbers
Would require California community colleges to establish a common course numbering system.

AB 438 (Reyes) Classified Employees: Layoff Notices and Hearings
Would provide classified school employees with the same rights to a notice and hearing with
respect to layoffs as is provided to certificated employees of school districts or academic em-
ployees at community colleges.
