JUNIOR SECONDARY & LANGUAGES UPDATE
Despite the end of year rapidly approaching there is still
so much going on. Our German and Chinese language
students recently completed the World Language
Championships with their outstanding achievements
recognised on whole school assembly. Our students
collectively spent 207 hours online successfully answering
a total of 160 079 questions. Sarah Lyon, Year 10 student,
answered over 17 000 questions on her own placing her
in the top 0.2% in the world. Well done, Sarah! Other Elite
Award recipients were Frances Wright and Tim Wright.

In week two of this term over 50 students, predominantly
from Year 7, ventured to Brisbane to participate in the
Oktoberfest 4 Teens – one of our favourite excursions. Lots
of fun and laughter with the majority not realising how
much German language and culture they were exposed
to on the day.

DARLING DOWNS
Congratulations to Joseph Fry (Cricket) and

selections into Darling Downs teams from
recent trials. We wish them well as they train in
preparation for their State Championships.

QLD ALL SCHOOLS HOCKEY
Last weekend our two school hockey teams
competed at the Qld All Schools Hockey
competition held in Toowoomba. Our girls
competed well on the first day which meant
the reward being placed in the Division 1
competition. The team played well considering
they had depleted players as the tournament
approached. In their play-off game, they
narrowly went down 1 nil to Glennie.

Our boys team had a wonderful tournament.
Solid team work ensured a spot in the Semi Final
against Downlands. Nil all at half time. Nil all at
full time. A penalty shoot out required. James
Leslie’s nerves of steel and solid saves along with
Elijah, Ollie, Callum, Zac and Konrad scoring their
goals, proved that CHSHS were heading to the
Grand Final.
