TRAIN
Great Journeys of New Zealand’s Northern Explorer service between
Auckland and Wellington delivers passengers into the heart of Ruapehu with

TRANSPORT
Both commercial ski areas, Tūroa and Whakapapa, are serviced by local bus
transport operators. There are a variety of transport options to access many of
the region’s walks, in particular the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. Mountain Bike
