Message of the Vice Chancellor
College of Home Economics (CHE) has been playing a pivotal role in educating the females of the province since its inception. Female
education is the unavoidable requirement of every healthy and progressive society and nation. In our culture where many of talented
girls linger behind in education because of the family setup which doesn't allow them to study in coeducation, College of Home
Economics provides them the opportunity to excel and explore.
The CHE has a distinction for not only focusing on academics but taking a great care in personality building of the students and equipping them with additional
skills to play a useful role in the society. Many courses related to Home Economics are offered ranging from FA, F.Sc, B.Sc to M.Sc, and from BS, MS/M.Phil to
Ph.D. It gives the female students the leverage to avoid the possible hurdles during their academic process enabling them to have the opportunity of higher
education. The Principal's motivation and energy is making the environment of the College more favorable for learning. The qualified and competent staff instills
a thriving spirit to learn and acquire more. The well equipped labs facilitate the students to refine their skills and perception. The clarity of concepts and the drive
of vision motivate the students to progress. All the required facilities for curricular and co-curricular activities are readily available for students.
In our society females must put in their contribution not only on individual and family level but also impact on macro level. The students passing out from College
of Home Economics are contributing in economic growth as well as refined aesthetics can be seen in their ambiance. I hope the students avail the positive
educational environment this year as well. I wish them success in future.

Message of the Principal
College of Home Economics is a prestigious institution of the University of Peshawar which offers practical
knowledge in diverse disciplines and incorporates a variety of skills in its curriculum. Thus, Home Economics
education prepares the female community to deal with future challenges in the role of a homemaker as well as a
career woman. I count myself among the blessed ones to be granted the opportunity of making a difference in the
lives of these young souls in the capacity of an educationist and an administrator. I am also confident that under my leadership and guidance, the
highly qualified and dedicated staff of this college will leave no stone unturned in improving the image and reputation of this institution. We shall
constantly strive to inculcate critical thinking, analytical, entrepreneurial, inter personal and communication skills in our students.
Home Economics is a unique discipline having multiple facets and to make it compatible with the demands of contemporary world, we aim at
academic up gradation through linkage programs with foreign universities and facilitating arrangement of internship for students at reputed
organizations. Improvement in curriculum and college labs is also on our agenda. I hope that addressing these areas will have a positive impact on the
overall performance of the students. I wish them all the best.

2Prospectus 2021 & Onwards
PREFACE
The study of Home Economics as a distinct discipline was introduced in the country soon after Pakistan's emergence on the world’s map. Initially,
the University of Peshawar in collaboration with Colorado State University USA set up a separate department devoted to the subject in 1954. The
department was later upgraded to the status of a College in 1963. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II inaugurated the present building. One of the only
nine Colleges in Pakistan devoted to the study of Home Economics; this college was initiated in an effort to develop a complete educational program
for the preparation of young girls to meet the challenges of free society.
The institution seeks to equip young women with the specialized knowledge, skills, awareness, and the right attitude needed to launch them
successfully in their social and professional lives. This field of study extends opportunities for following careers in an increasing number of
professions. Therefore, it has acquired a special significance to mould the female generation, providing them with an opportunity of studying a
unique blend of both science and art related subjects. This opens up future avenues for personal, professional, and social enhancement.
The College of Home Economics not only aims to turn out well-informed future mothers, but also Interior Designers, Dietitians, Textile Designers,
Fashion Designers, Small Business Managers, Teachers, Event Organizers and Research Workers.
