New Faces REGENESIS Welcomes Research Associate, Joshua Moreno When it comes to leveraging his academic background and university Joshua Moreno studies, Joshua Moreno’s decision to join REGENESIS® last September Research Associate as a Research Associate appears to be an ideal match. He begins, “To San Clemente, CA sum it up, I like that I get to “science” all day. At REGENESIS I get to think critically about how to solve problems and develop new technologies through science.” Prior to joining REGENESIS, Moreno enlisted in the Navy as a hospital corpsman. After serving five years, he earned his BS in Biology at Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Virginia. Armed with his degree and a thirst for science-based research, he accepted a position at Anheuser Busch as a quality lab analyst, testing Budweiser and several other beers for what he calls “awesomeness”. Concurrently, he also worked at an environmental testing lab as an organic chemist. Soon, his interest in environmental science drew him to REGENESIS. He continues, “I was drawn to REGENESIS because I wanted a position that would allow me to develop new technologies while supporting research and product development. My research background, coupled with my undergrad degree and analytical chemistry experience in the environmental lab industry influenced my decision to move my career forward with bioremediation at REGENESIS.” 6
When asked what excites him most about being part of the REGENESIS team, Moreno quickly points to the opportunity to assist in formulating new technologies. He shares, “I’m most excited about developing new remediation technology that will continue to push the company to the forefront of the remediation industry. In addition, I get to learn from our brilliant team of scientists.” “No shark encounters Outside of work, Moreno enjoys applying some of his learnings from yet, although...” Anheuser Busch to brewing his own beer. “I like to brew stouts and IPAs because they’re my favorite to drink,” he says. “I love to drink IPAs on a hot summer day and I enjoy stouts in the evenings to unwind.” He has also taken up surfing since relocating to Southern California and includes Oceanside harbor as a favorite surf spot. He shares, “Oceanside is a great spot for beginners, offers lots of parking, and has an awesome coffee shop located right by the beach entrance.” He continues, “No shark encounters yet, although I was almost pulled out into open water by rip current. Fortunately, I was saved by another surfer. That was scary.” He also stays busy as a volunteer when time allows, and in Virginia, prior to his relocation to California, was involved with ForKids, a nonprofit organization that assists low-income families at risk of homelessness. Much of his free time now however is spent helping his fiancé plan for their upcoming wedding, scheduled for March. REGENESIS is proud to welcome Joshua Moreno to the team as a Research Associate and appreciates his commitment to working alongside other research staff in the company’s ongoing efforts to develop new science- based solutions for its clients. 7
REGENESIS Welcomes Staff Scientist, Seth Benson For Seth Benson, who in January, 2021 joins REGENESIS® as a Staff Seth Benson Scientist, the combination of hands-on field work and extensive travel with a Staff Scientist Mishawaka, IN growing environmental remediation company provides an ideal platform for him to excel in a role he’s been looking forward to for some time. He begins, “I’ve been interested in an environmental career since college and I always enjoy traveling. I’ve been told that my job will be up to 90% travel and I like that our team will be making some consequential decisions that can change many lives for the better.” Based upon his prior work history, Benson is well equipped to handle a variety of field work in his new science-based role with REGENESIS. He continues, “Most of my previous jobs required physical labor and the application of my college degree, a BS in Psychology and Biology, with a minor in Chemistry, which I obtained from Central Michigan University. One of my recent jobs prior to joining REGENESIS included a role with the United States Geological Survey, as a field and lab technician. I would help collect field samples and data, process samples in the lab, and do data entry, analysis, and presentation.” 8
Benson will be working out of the REGENESIS Mishawaka, IN office, while concurrently finishing up his master’s degree from Central Michigan University. He feels his thesis- The Effects of Alkali Treatment on Cyanobacterial Transmission in Ballast Water, will assist him in certain aspects of his new role with REGENESIS. He also feels he will benefit from his undergrad experience in Karlstad, Sweden several years ago, where he initially became interested in environmental remediation. He shares, “I was heavily affected by a class I took while studying abroad in Sweden. Since then, I knew my vocation should include a consistent effort to leaving our planet in a little better shape for future generations. To me, this seems like a tangible thing to do here at REGENESIS, one project at a time.” “Before the pandemic In his free time, he enjoys playing hockey as a goalie. “Before the pandemic, I I was playing seven was playing seven times a week. We just recently built a backyard rink, but it times a week...” hasn’t been cold enough yet to skate on. Recent Projects Case Study RRS Treats Over 8 Million Cubic Feet of Groundwater in 13 Days 8,000,000 Cubic Feet A challenging site required an innovative approach to in situ bedrock remediation last May. Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) and 8 Million Cubic Feet of CVOC Impacted REGENESIS® collaborated on the remedial design, which consisted of 102 Groundwater Treated injection wells with most of the wells arranged in a series of staggered transects across the primary direction of the plume movement. The total treatment area considered for product dosing estimation was approximately 500,000 square feet, and a total volume of approximately 88,000 gallons was specified for the ERD treatment. 88,000 Gallons of Remedial Amendments Applied REGENESIS Remediation Services (RRS) began the application in May 2020 and completed it in less than 13 days, averaging nearly 7,000 gallons of fluid 88,000 Gallons of ERD Remedial volume injected per day at this active facility. (CRS) and Bio-Dechlor INOCULUM Plus (BDI Plus) were injected for ERD treatment of the CVOCs. The extensive injection well network and large injection volume required RRS to develop an innovative injection process and containment design. Two 21,000-gallon frac tanks were delivered to the site to hold deoxygenated water used for mixing and to chase product injections. Mixing for the main high-flow system was performed in two large polyethylene tanks that were constantly recirculated to ensure a homogenous mixture. 22

Case Study Retro-Coat is Part of No Further Action Solution Treatment Mitigates Vapor Intrusion of Chlorinated Solvents Protecting Future Building Occupants Site Details Project Summary Jeffersonville, Indiana, located along the Ohio River opposite Louisville, Site Type has a rich history dating back to its founding near the beginning of the 19th century. Named after the nation’s third President, the town was Dry Cleaner a Union hub for munitions and equipment during the Civil War. It was also the location of one of the largest Civil War hospitals and was once a Contaminants of major shipbuilding port, supplying amphibious landing ships during World Concern War II. Today it is a modern, fast-growing and rapidly developing city. This development trend includes a former dry cleaner property impacted Chlorinated Solvents by spills of dry cleaning solvents during its operation. To address these impacts, the environmental consultant proposed a remediation plan that Mitigation included excavation of shallow soils beneath the foundation slab and Approach restoration of the concrete slab with Retro-Coat® Vapor Intrusion Coating System. HEPACO, the Land Science certified applicator, completed the Retro-Coat® application on time and within budget, allowing the redevelopment to proceed and ensuring the building is protected from any remaining chlorinated solvent vapors. With this potential exposure pathway mitigated, the site is now seeking no further action. 26
Results Following the Retro-Coat Vapor Intrusion Coating System installation, the building meets vapor intrusion mitigation requirements, ensuring safe indoor air for future building occupants. Additionally, the finished coating is visually attractive and widely appealing for a variety of commercial uses. An Update on Gallatin, TN REGENESIS Welcomes Warehouse Manager, Rick Zhorne From helping to run a successful startup business to serving as an Army Rick Zhorne combat medic, Rick Zhorne, REGENESIS’ new warehouse/facility manager Warehouse Manager Gallatin, TN for the new Gallatin, TN warehouse, seems to rise to the challenge. Prior to joining REGENESIS in October of last year, Zhorne served in the military and afterwards, held key positions in a fast-growing startup, both of which he feels offered invaluable experience, especially for his new role. He shares, “While serving in the Army, I did two deployments to Iraq for a total of 27 months. Some of the key attributes I gained included leadership skills and how to maintain millions of items in inventory. I also learned that no matter what might be occurring in the civilian world, things can always be worse.” After completing his military service Zhorne signed on for a startup company with a friend as the first employee of the company. He continues, “When I left the company, it had grown from a 5,000 sq. ft. warehouse to a 550,000 sq. ft. warehouse, and from 1 employee to over 500 employees- with 15 retail stores, a full-scale, 10-truck trucking company, and an eCommerce company. Needless to say, my leadership was routinely tested with over 200 direct employees during peak seasons.” 28
As one who seems to thrive in challenging situations, Zhorne was attracted to joining REGENESIS, partly because of the different products and systems involved. “Although I was comfortable with where I was professionally at “I was ready for a new that time, I was ready for a new challenge and felt my background and skillset had prepared me for success in a new role. I am extremely familiar challenge...” with setting up warehouses and building processes, so I feel joining REGENESIS was the perfect fit for me.” In his new role managing the Gallatin warehouse and supervising its staff, Zhorne says he appreciates that the company is somewhat small, yet poised for success within a larger category. He also is encouraged that the company trusts its employees to manage their areas of expertise, and feels his leadership will have an impact on the continued growth of the company. He continues, “I think as the tempo of the Gallatin warehouse increases, and as we begin to move product and production into the warehouse, I’ll have a lot to bring to the table. At the same time, I realize I have a lot to learn from the rest of the team around me, and I look forward to increasing my level of understanding when it comes to environmental technologies.” Outside of work, Zhorne makes the most of his free time, with hobbies that include racing 4-wheeler UTVs and other outdoor activities, and he also enjoys being a “shade tree mechanic”- maintaining his 4-wheeler in his backyard “under a shade tree”, instead of using the services of a professional mechanic. REGENESIS is proud to welcome Rick Zhorne to the team and appreciates his leadership and enthusiastic approach to warehouse management as the company continues to meet and exceed our client’s expectations. 29
