GENERAL RULES
AND THOSE RELATING TO EACH SECTION
CAREFULLY PLEASE
NO DOGS ARE ALLOWED ON THE GROUNDS UNLESS GUIDE DOGS OR AN OFFICIAL PART OF THE SHOW
THIS IS A TASMAN DISTRICT COUNCIL SAFETY BY-LAWGENERAL
1/ All entries must be made in writing, or on the printed or emailed forms provided; the name of the exhibitor or some person
authorised by him/her included and handed, emailed or posted to the Secretary.
Entry fees may be handed or posted to the secretary, or paid by internet banking to BNZ account 02 0764 0011324 00
Entries will not be accepted until correct entry fees have been received.
2/ Gates open to the public at 8.00am on Show Day. Saturday 18th January 2020.
Prices for admission: Adults – Pre-entry Show Ticket $10, available from NBS Takaka in mid-December
Gate sales $15, Children 14 years and under free. Car parking free.
3/ All persons admitted to the Show Ground will be subject to the rules and orders of the Golden Bay A&P Show Committee.
4/ The Committee will not, under any circumstances, hold themselves responsible for any injury or accident of any description
sustained on the Show Grounds.
5/ The Committee will not, under any circumstances, hold themselves responsible for any loss, damage, or miss-delivery of any
exhibits of any description.
6/ No animal or goods of any description, excepting those entered in the Catalogue, to be allowed in the show ground without
permission of the Committee. NO DOGS ON GROUNDS PLEASE.
7/ In the event of there being no competition the Judge shall not be bound to award a prize unless the entry is of sufficient merit.
Competition means two or more entries. All children’s classes shall be awarded prizes.
8/ In all classes where two or more prizes have been awarded the judges are requested to “very highly commend” any other exhibit
worthy of that distinction.
9/ In the event of more than one exhibitor sharing first prize, the first and second prize monies will be totalled and shared by the first
prize winners and no second prize will be awarded. If more than one exhibitor ties for second place the second and third prize
monies will be totalled and shared by the second place winners and no third prize will be awarded.
10/ All prizes won at the Show must be claimed within three months from the date thereof.
11/ The Association reserves the right to substitute trophies in lieu of cash prizes, or vice versa, at their discretion. Any dispute in
connection with private prizes shall be settled by the Committee whose decision shall be final.
12/ The Protest Committee shall consist of the President, Vice-President and the Chief Steward of the Section concerned. A protest is
to be made in writing, accompanied by the deposit of $10, and lodged with the Secretary on the day of the Show.
The refund of the deposit is at the discretion of the Protest Committee.
13/ No fireworks will be allowed in the Show Grounds. Disobedience of this rule will subject the offender to being removed from the
Grounds.
14/ The Association shall not be responsible or liable in case of any error, miss-statement or miss-description appearing in any prize
schedule or Show Catalogue or in any form of certificate of entry or in any advertisement or notification, whether posted, displayed
or published. It will, however, be the duty of the Association, of the Secretary and his/her assistants to take all proper care to avoid
any such error, miss-description or miss-statement. Names of Judges and Stewards (if any) shown in the Prize Schedule or in the
Show Catalogue are intended to be informative only and are subject to such changes from time to time as the Association may, in
its discretion, make. No exception shall be taken by any Judge or exhibitor by reason of any such change.
TRADE
15/ Applications for space for exhibition or trade including implements, machinery etc. must be made not later than Tuesday 17th
December 2019.
Trade space charges: $50 for the first 4 metres of frontage, 6 metre depth
$70 for the first 4 metres of frontage, 12 metre depth
$10 for each additional metre of frontage.
Power connection $25
All exhibiters or trade stands must be in their appointed place by 9am on Show Day.

LATE ENTRIES accepted at the discretion of the Chief Steward from Sunday 15th Dec 2019 until Wednesday 8th Jan 2020 incl. An
extra fee of 50% per entry will be charged. No new entries will be accepted from Thursday 9th Jan 2020 (10 days before the show.)

1/ Temporary pens constructed of electric fence tape and standards, string, rope or chain are not permitted.

2/ Yellow Card - This Show/Event supports the RAS ‘Yellow Card’ system. A Yellow Card will be issued in cases of offences
in respect of abuse of animals or inappropriate behaviour as per the RAS Constitution and the RAS Rules &
Regulations/Bylaws including the Equestrian Rulebook. The RAS affiliated Show/Event/registered Measuring Stand and
their grounds and their duly appointed delegates may deliver to the Person Responsible a Yellow Warning Card (either
immediately or within 10 days of the show) which suspends any penalty until possible new offences. Full wording of
the ‘Yellow Card’ system is available to view on the RAS website – www.ras.org.nz.
3/ Clean Sport - The Rules of the Royal A&P Society New Zealand in regard to Clean Sport apply. Competitors are advised
that tests for forbidden substances may be carried out during the Show/Event and that testing of all animals is the entrant’s
cost/responsible. Forbidden Substance - Any substance capable of affecting the speed, stamina, courage or conduct of a
horse, pony, donkey or mule by its action upon the central or peripheral nervous system or the cardio-vascular, respiratory,
alimentary, digestive, musculoskeletal or urogenital systems.
4/ Arrears – No person who is in arrears with regard to entry fees, subscriptions, or any other show/event charge is not
eligible to compete at any affiliated show/event. Proof of payment will be required before any restriction is lifted.
5/ Judging will commence at 7.45am in all rings.
6/ Novice classes: A Novice is a horse or pony which has won 0-5 firsts in conformation classes at any A&P Show at the time of the
show. Once a horse or pony has had 6 wins it is not eligible for novice classes.
7/ If a novice entry has gained 6 wins before the day of the show the competitor must advise the Secretary’s office and may
change to an open class. If no class remains to enter a refund will be actioned at such time as the show committee decides.
8/ Rope halters or bit-less bridles are not allowed during ridden show classes, but are allowed during jumping events.
9/ All Ponies and Hacks to be ridden to the satisfaction of the judges.
10/ In the jumping events no placing will be awarded unless the competitor completes the course.
11/ No jumping will be allowed on the Show Ground prior to the competition. Infringement of this rule shall subject the offender to
disqualification and removal from the Show Ground.
12/ Pony jumping classes 39, 40, 41a, 41b, 42 and Horse jumping classes 82, 83, 41a, 41b, 84, run similar to F.E.I. Rules.
13/ Substitute horses can be made with a veterinarian’s certificate. Horses or riders unable to take part on medical grounds will
have 75% of the entry fee refunded on production of a doctor’s or veterinarian’s certificate.
14/ Entries MAY be taken on the day provided competitor already entered in show and at the discretion of the Chief Steward.
15/ All Champions need to participate in the Grand Parade otherwise they forfeit their ribbons.
16/ The Committee reserves the right to combine, delete and / or alter classes as they feel necessary.
17/ In all rings First Prize Winners only to parade for Champion. Once the Champion has been selected the 2nd to the selected
Champion must be allowed to parade for Reserve.
18/ If only 2 entries in a class only 2nd & 3rd prize money awarded.
3rd placed prize money will be awarded only if four or more competitors entering in a class
19/ Every rider’s helmet must be up to standard and tagged prior to the show.
20/ Any competitor falling from a Pony or Horse must report to First Aid to be cleared to continue riding.

A CURRENT RAS PERFORMANCE CARD. No performance card = no entry.

Two Fence Challenge rules are as follows: competition is held over 2 obstacles. One obstacle is a vertical and the second is a
spread fence. The first obstacle will not change in height but the second obstacle will increase by a height at the judge’s discretion. It is
a ‘fault and out’ competition. Class 42 competition will begin immediately after the Grand Parade.

All entries should be made in the name of the bona fide owner of the exhibits.
Two cattle substitutes allowed per breeder. The Chief Steward must be notified of such substitutes before the commencement of
judging.
All animals entered for showing or exhibiting must be from a current TB Clear Status Herd.
A copy of the current TB test certificate must be attached to your entry forms. The Golden Bay A&P Association must be
notified at the time of entry of any testing to be carried out after the closing date of entries or of any potential TB issues that
may arise after entries have been submitted. Owners entering cattle must sign the declaration printed on the entry form.
There are two documents required.
A. - TB Test Certificate. For animals from a Declared Movement Control Area – all animals aged three months or older are
to be TB tested and have a clear test within 60 days prior to being moved to the Show. All other animals must be from a
herd that is up to date with its current routine TB testing requirements.
B - TB Animal Status Declaration Card. This is a legal requirement for all animals being moved. All animals entered must be
accompanied in transit by a signed and dated TB Animal Status Declaration Card showing a TB Clear status in accordance
with present legislation. Animal individual numbers must be included on the TB test sheet. These cards may be inspected at
the unloading area.
For cattle being moved from 1 July 2012: A NAIT approved RFID tag will be mandatory for all movements of cattle,
including day old calves. NAIT approved RFID cattle tags are white only. Please do not remove tags if cattle are identified
with Animal Health Board or MINDA tags.
As of 1 July 2012 a secondary tag is no longer required under the new NAIT scheme.
PET CALVES
Entries not to be clipped, but ears and tails may be trimmed.
Open to all children under 15 years.

3/4 cup castor sugar
3 large eggs
1 3/4 cups self-raising flour
3 tablespoons milk – full cream
Zest of 1 lemon
Lightly grease sides and line base of an 8in (20cm) tin with baking paper. Using a large bowl, cream butter and
sugar until creamy. Beat in eggs one at a time. Sift flour then fold into creamy mixture along with milk and lemon zest. Spoon
into cake tin, levelling the top. Bake at 350oF (180oC) for 35-40 minutes. Cool before removing from cake tin.
