These forms must be filled out and signed by the Exhibitor or some person authorised, and must be handed to the Secretary, together with Entrance Fees. No entry will be valid unless these conditions are complied with. 2: The Committee will in no case consider any entry valid unless the Fees are paid at the time of making it. 3: All entries must be made in the name of the bona fide owner of the exhibits, unless otherwise stated. 4: The receipt for entrance money must be produced to the gatekeeper, or the exhibit will not be admitted. 5: Staff in charge of stock will be admitted free, but they must be subject to the rules and orders of the Committee and Secretary. 6: All persons admitted to the showgrounds shall be subject to the rules and orders of the Committee and Secretary. 7: No stock will be allowed to be removed from the grounds before 4.00pm without a special order, which shall be supplied at the discretion of the Chairman of the Sub-Committee concerned. 8: Exhibitors will be required to state as accurately as possible at the time of entry the date of birth of all stock in classes where the age is specified: in sheep, the date of shearing, in all entries of livestock the breeder’s name must be mentioned, if known; if not known, the fact must be stated at the time of entry. 9: Judges of stock, in arriving at their decision, as directed not to give undue weight to high condition (except in the classes of fat stock), but to award prizes to the animals in each class which they consider best represents the particular breed or description intended to be encouraged. The Judges are requested to pass over animals whose want of condition betokens weakness of constitution, or do not show sufficient merit however good the exhibit may be in other respects. Award tickets are to be granted: 1st, 2nd and 3rd. In every class the Judges are requested to Very Highly Commend, Highly Commend or Commend, should they think, any of the other exhibits worthy of such distinction? 10: The Committee will not, under any circumstances, hold themselves responsible for loss, damage, or misdelivery of any stock, implements, or other articles exhibited at the show. 11: No stock will be allowed to be exhibited in more than one class, unless where specified in each Section. This rule does not apply to progeny Classes or Private prizes. Although it is provided in certain classes that Horses compete in more than one Class, any or all such Classes may be judged simultaneously at the convenience of the Judges, or Stewards; in all such cases. Exhibitors having an exhibit entered in more than one Class must elect in which Class they compete. 12: Prizes – In the event of there being no competition, Judges are requested to award a first prize only if, in their opinion, the exhibit warrants it. Full prize money will be paid on the ticket awarded. Competition shall mean two or more Exhibitors in the same class. 13: Every private prize will be dealt with in accordance with the condition of the donor, but if there is no condition, the prize will be given as the Committee thinks fit. 14: Power is reserved to withhold a prize where Judges consider it ought not be awarded from want of sufficient merit, even where there is competition. 15: SCALE OF POINTS Champ Res Champ 1st 2nd 3rd VHC 3 2 5 3 2 1 Only the Association’s Numbered Classes count for Prizes.
16: In the event of a tie for any prize, the winner of the largest number of first prizes in the classes competing will have the preference. If none of the competitors have taken a majority of first prizes, the value of the prize will be equally divided between the competitors who have tied. 17: No distinguishing mark of ownership, with the exception of earmarks, ear tags and registered brands, will be allowed to be attached to any animal exhibit. 18: All protests must be in writing, and may be lodged with the Secretary either before or after the Judges have proceeded to their duties. The parties entering a protest must deposit $50 cash, the deposit to be returned if the protest is sustained. If the protest is to be lodged before the Judges proceed to their duties, the onus of proof rests with the exhibitor, if after the judging is complete the onus of proof to rest with the party protesting. No protest will be received later than two hours after awards are made and the prize tickets are affixed. The Protest Committee will decide all protests as soon as practicable, and there shall be no appeal from their decision. 19: No person shall have proprietorship for the time being in the pens which have been allotted to the stock entered by such person, and no one will be permitted to put any placard or advertisement on the ground without the consent of the Committee or Secretary. 20: Prize money for all sections of the Show will be paid in cash as follows: Horse Section Prize Money will be given to the winning exhibitors with the award cards. In all other sections, except the sheep section, prize money will be paid after 4.30pm on Saturday at the appropriate Stewards stand for each section. The Exhibitor will be required to present award card and sign to acknowledge receipt of prize money. Prize money not collected on Saturday will be forfeited. 21: All Exhibits must enter the judging ring in the order in which they appear in the catalogue, and must not wear prize tickets won in previous contests. 22: Persons desirous of exhibiting goods for which there are no classes in the Catalogue may obtain sites for the same on payment of a fee by arrangement with the Secretary. Early application will be necessary as the space available for such purposes is limited. 23: Exhibitors desirous of bringing any improvements in implements, machinery or other exhibits under the notice of they are requested to hand particulars of the same in writing to the Secretary at the time of making entry. No prize money will be given unless specially mentioned, but where any decided improvement has been made during the past year the Association, on the recommendation of the Judges, will give certificates of merit. 24: Extra stock, implements, etc. not admissible under any of the enumerated classes, may be exhibited by paying the same entrance fees as in the class to which they are most closely allied, and honorary certificates may be awarded. 25: Any exhibitor infringing any of the above regulations shall be subject to be dealt with as may be decided upon by the Committee, or Sub-Committee whose decision shall be final. 26: Any points not provided for shall be settled by the Committee, whose decision shall be absolutely final. 27: Reference to “District” in the schedule or catalogue will mean from the north bank Rangitata River to the south bank Rakaia River from the sea to the main divide. 28: Sheep entries will only be accepted from Brucellosis Accredited Free flocks and a copy of Accreditation Form must accompany entries. 29: The Association gives notice to all exhibitors that names and placings may be published following the show. 30: All trophies will be engraved following the show and will remain at the showgrounds in the trophy cabinet. Some trophies may be able to be uplifted but this will be at the discretion of the association. This is due to lost or damaged trophies. 31: The Committee has the right to refuse or cancel any entries without giving reason for doing so. 32: No Measuring on Show Days 33: Horse Offices Hours – Thursday 3.30pm- 4.30pm, Friday 7am to 8.30am, 10am to 11am, 3pm-4.00pm. Saturday 6.30am – 8-00am, 10 am to 11.00am, 3.00pm to 4.00pm AN EXHIBITORS PASS FOR ENTRY INTO THE SHOW WILL BE ISSUED TO EACH INDIVIDUAL EXHIBITOR IN ALL SECTIONS OTHER THAN THE HOME INDUSTRIES PAVILION AND POULTRY SECTION, WHERE FIVE ENTRIES PER EXHIBITOR ARE REQUIRED. It is felt that if each member would take the matter in hand; the membership would rapidly increase, thereby enabling the Association to extend its sphere of usefulness in many ways. THE PRIVILEGES OF MEMBERS INCLUDE: 1. Admission to the Showgrounds for Members and Member’s Guest 2. Members District Ticket allowing 1 free admission to Oxford, Malvern, Methven, Mayfield, Temuka/Geraldine, Courtenay, Amberley, , Northern (Rangiora), Ellesmere, Southern Canterbury, Nelson, Banks Peninsula, and Cheviot A&P Shows. This ticket is to encourage members to go to other shows and not for use at Ashburton Show. 3. Reduced entry fees to show and associated competitions 4. Annual Newsletter & End of Year reports SUBSCRIPTIONS: $25.00 (GST inclusive)
Showjumping SHOW JUMPING CONVENOR: Annette Scott CONDITIONS: 1. All classes run under ESNZ Jumping rules. Please see the ESNZ website for current Rules and Series conditions. 2. Committee reserves the right to alter, delete or amend any classes as it deems fit or transfer classes between rings. 3. Entries must be on the A&P entry form including horse and rider registration numbers. 4. Please note ESNZ Jumping and casual levy charges: All classes marked with# are open to Horses/Ponies not registered with ESNZ Jumping/Showhunter. ESNZ JUMPING LEVY $5 PER HORSE/PONY - PER SHOW to be paid by ALL Horses and Ponies 5. LATE ENTRIES - must start first in all draw order competitions (see Article 252./2.2) 6. GRAND PRIX CLASSES - Horses/Ponies with 20 penalties or less proceed to second round. 7. Some overnight accommodation on the grounds is available on application (see entry form). The acceptance of your entry fee does not guarantee that stabling requirements will be allocated as requested. 8. The use of temporary yards is prohibited at all times. 9. 80% refunds of entry fees will only be made on production of a Veterinary Certificate or Medical Certificate to be dated stating when injury or illness occurred. To be received by Show Secretary no later than seven days after last day of Show. 10. Only on the production of a Veterinary Certificate may an original entry be replaced by a substitute the name of the owner of the original entry on written notification to the Secretary. 11. Grand Parade will be held in the judging rings at 2.00 p.m. on Saturday and all prize winners are required to parade. 12. Prize money will be handed out in the judging ring along with the award ribbons. 13. Drug testing may be carried out under the Regulations and Bylaws of the R.A.S. Section 55A & Equestrian Competitors Handbook. These Regulations, Bylaws and Procedures are available for inspection at the Secretary's Office. 14. The exhibitors entering or competing at the Show shall be deemed to accept and be bound by these Regulations, Bylaws and Procedures.
15. Trophies available after engraving. 16. ALL CLASS TRANSFERS WILL BE CHARGED $2 TRANSFER FEE PER CLASS. 17. THE ONLY BACK NUMBERS PERMITTED WILL BE THOSE PROVIDED BY THE ASHBURTON A&P ASSOCIATION. A $5 fee PER RIDER will be charged for all back numbers with $5 refundable upon return. A $5 fee will be charged for a Judges Travel Fund, to be used at the discretion of the Ashburton A&P Association towards reimbursing equestrian Judges some travel expenses incurred 18. Whips to be no longer than 76cms. 20 Helmets must comply with RAS Rule No. 51 (c) - All riders 16 and under must wear protection headgear, which includes a retaining harness secured to the shell at more than 2 points. Such headgear must be worn with the chinstrap properly adjusted and fastened when in the arena or ring, the practice area collecting rings or anywhere else on the Showgrounds. 21. "This show supports the RAS 'yellow card' system which will operate in the Equestrian Section of all RAS affiliated Shows and will be offered for any inappropriate behaviour towards show officials, judges, fellow competitors or any other third party connected with the show bringing the equestrian discipline into disrepute, or cases which are of a less serious nature to the above in accordance with the conduct of members, owners, lessees, competitors and/or exhibitors as provided in the RAS equestrian competitors and judges rulebook and rule 13 of the RAS constitution". Implementation of the 'Yellow Card' will be in accordance of the RAS rules that accompanied this card, and full wording of the 'Yellow Card' system is available to view on the RAS website 22. Rule 30 of Equestrian Competitions & Judges Rule Book - "No competitor or exhibitor or member of their family shall approach a judge with regard to a decision unless they first obtain the permission of the Show Convenor/Manager/Ring Master or Ring Steward the most senior of whom shall carry the decision on the day" 23. Equestrian Levy: All Equestrian Entry Fees include an RAS Levy of $1 per Class, Stallions/Colts 24. RAS Rule 56 25. All yarded & stabled equines are to have their name, the name of the person responsible and the telephone number clearly visible on their head collar and/or rugs as per Jumping Rules 200.7.1 Stallions are permitted in all classes they are eligible for but must if led be in the appropriate harness prescribed by the Breed Society the stallion is registered with or which is prescribed by the host Show, or if ridden must be in an appropriate bridle and be in total control. A Steward will order any stallion considered out of control or to be causing undue disquiet to other horses from the ring without recourse from the stallion owner/exhibitor/competitor. It is compulsory for all stallions regardless of age, to wear an identification badge 'S' at all Shows at all times.
