Sound insulation that sets the standard According to the German Federal Environment Agency (UBA) more than 40 % of people are disturbed by environmental noise. Just 10 dB more will be perceived as twice as loud. Nowadays, thick masonry is not a requirement to ensure effective insulation from noise. By exploiting the spring-mass principle, modern drywalling systems can significantly reduce the noise from the room in other rooms.

Furthermore, intelligent constructions avoid sound bridges with the floor and thus a transfer of footfall noise. The lower the resonance frequency, the better the sound insulation. Lower resonance frequencies are achieved with larger cavities or heavier cladding. Observe the following when selecting the stud construction: ■ ■ Single stud frames made of wood impair the sound insulation due to the rigid coupling of the cladding.

They provide a slightly increased sound reduction index. ■ ■ The double stud frame is the safest application variant. ■ ■ The DIVA grid combines the acoustical decoupling of the MW profile with the mechanical stud linking bracing for the highest demands such as e.g. partitions in a cinema (see page 18).
