Exam Specification

AQA ART AND DESIGN – FINE ART OR PHOTOGRAPHY

What resources are important for this subject e.g. websites/textbooks?

Most pupils will already have a GCSE Art pack and a good range of materials to complete
the coursework component (60% of the final exam).

Pupils also find that a ‘Pinterest’ account is an invaluable source of visual information and
ideas.

What advice can you give to ensure students do well in this subject?

Pupils need to aim to work ahead of deadlines, thus allowing more time to improve work
and improve subsequently grades.

Pupils should look at previous pupils’ work and sketchbooks.

Pupils should seek advice from older boys (working a lunch time each week in the Art room
is a good opportunity for this).

Pupils need to be proactive in asking “how do I improve this?”
