University mobility allows students to do part of their
Bachelor’s, Master’s or doctoral studies at another uni-
versity in Switzerland or abroad. They can choose from
a number of destinations (UNIGE has agreements
with institutions such as UCLA, Boston University, Uni-
versity of Sydney, University of Montreal, and mem-
bers of the League of European Research Universities).
The length of stay varies from one to two semesters
depending on the faculty/institute and the study plan.
Credits earned at the destination university are trans-
ferred and counted as equivalent to UNIGE course-
work, in accordance with the pre-established study
agreement. The final diploma is awarded by the home
university, i.e. the UNIGE.

STUDY ABROAD
Geneva Summer Schools at the University of Geneva
(UNIGE) offer a selection of short courses in a variety
of subjects during the summer months. Taught in Eng-
lish by faculty from UNIGE and international partner
institutions, the high quality academic courses provide
a global perspective on issues in the social sciences, the
humanities, the sciences, and interdisciplinary fields.
Students can also take French language classes at the
university. Upon successful completion of courses, ECTS
credits may be awarded.
