The Rooster Run/Walk will have NEW 5K certified course, and an option for the 10K course. Your little chickens will also
have a chance to run in our 100 Yard, Little Chicks Dash.
The proceeds from this event will benefit the Newtown Scholarship Association.

 Make it a family event, bring your friends and cheer on your friends and family as they raise money for a great cause!
This race/walk is for the elite to the novice. Maps are available at the Parks and Recreation office.
If you cannot run on this day, think about sponsoring. All contributions are tax deductible. Over $100, gets your name on

RECREATIONAL SUMMER SWIM TEAM                                    The Newtown Torpedoes Swim Team: At this point, we are
unsure whether there will be Stateline meets. We will emphasis team spirit and FUN! Swimmers will learn the
fundamentals of swim competition and proper stroke and turn techniques. Swimmer must be able to swim 25 yards and
must have knowledge of the various swim strokes. Enrollment is limited. THIS IS NOT A SWIM LESSON!!!We will be
following all of OEC and CDC guidelines. Schedule for practice will be set up once we know how many swimmers have

Time: 9:30 am to 12:30 pm / All camps are Monday to Thursday expect week of July 6 to July 8 Tuesday to Thursday

Our tennis camps will feature a different stroke each day (forehand, backhand, serve and volley). We have dynamic
drills that incorporate groundstrokes and volleys while using several corrective techniques for our students. A variety
of fun games teach our students to rally and learn the game of tennis. Students will learn the rules of tennis and how
to keep score. Courts will be split up by age and level. USTA approved QuickStart balls will be used (red, orange, green
and adult yellow) depending on the level and age of the group.
Red Ball (ages 4-6); Orange Ball (ages 7 – 9); Green Ball (ages 10 – 12); Yellow Adult Ball (ages 13 – 15)
Rain Date will be the following Friday of each session.
Every Wednesday kids can go on waterslide for last 45 min.

Newtown Softball Camp is an engaging, fun and instructive experience. The camp is designed for players who are in the U10
or U12 age group as defined by Babe Ruth Leagues (ages 9 -12 as of January 1; DOB 2008-2011).
All skill levels are welcome.
The daily schedule will be divided into distinct teaching “blocks” including:
Skills Clinic emphasizing game fundamentals including offensive batting elements (stance, stride, bunting), defensive
fielding (positions & footwork, infield ground balls, outfield pops, relay throw, proper ball grip), and base running/sliding.
Contests & Drills designed to emphasize game fundamentals.Live Games: Players will be divided into teams for a full, “pick
