                      October 5th to 8th, 2018
 On behalf of the Burford Agricultural Society I would like to thank you for
your interest in the 2018 Burford Fall Fair. The theme of the fair this year is
  “Fall Harvest”. I encourage each of you to take part in your community’s
fair, both by entering exhibits and by participating in our events during the
  Thanksgiving Weekend. I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the
                                 Burford Fair.

     Please be patient as we continue to improve our Fairgrounds for your
                            safety and enjoyment.
               Thanks from the Burford Fair Board of Directors.

 The Burford Agricultural Society Membership is $10.00 (HST Included). This
    entitles the member to all privileges of the society including one day
   admission to the fair and exhibiting in the Burford Fair. Marked youth
    sections (14 and under) require a membership number, however NO
     membership fee will be charged. If Youth submit entries into Adult
                   categories, a membership is required.

Rules & Regulations

   1.    The Burford Agricultural Society’s membership fee is $10.00 (including HST).
         All exhibitors must pay an exhibitor fee (excluding juniors, see rule #2) to the
         Burford Agricultural Society for the current year.
   2.     If a Junior Exhibitor is entering in an adult entry class that junior must pay an
         exhibitor fee of $10.00 and will receive the full benefits listed on page #3.
   3.    10% of prize money will be deducted in lieu of an entry fee for some classes.
         There will be no deductions in the following sections: Section 11 – Junior
         Department, and Section 2 – Western Horse. Note: 100% of above mentioned
         deductions are applied to the cost of administering prizes.
   4.    The Society will not be responsible for any accident that may occur on the
         grounds from any cause. No vehicle is to be driven faster than 15 km/h on the
         grounds.
   5.    Dogs are not allowed on the Fairgrounds during the Fair except for
         participation in the Pet Show, Sunday afternoon. Service Animals are
         permitted.
   6.    All persons using the Fairgrounds do so at their own risk.
   7.    In case of an error in the printing of the Prize Book, the Directors have the
         power to rectify the error.

ENTRIES

   8.    The Fair office will be open one week prior to fair. The public is welcome to
         come in and purchase memberships, drop off entry forms, pick up entry tags,
         purchase Weekend Admission Passes, etc. during that time. Monday to Friday
         2:00pm to 6:00pm.
   9.    Judging of exhibits begin at 9:00 a.m. on Sat. October 6th, 2018.
   10.   Each exhibitor must fill out one entry form. An entry tag for each item must be
         filled out, which can be picked up at the Fair Office, or downloaded off our
         website. www.burfordfair.ca. Completed entry forms must be returned to the
         Fair Office.
   11.   No exhibit may be removed until after 4:00 p.m. on Monday October 8th,
         2018. Prize money will be available on Monday for pick-up.
   12.   Only one article per section is allowed, except where otherwise noted.
   13.   While the Directors will take every possible precaution under the
         circumstances to secure the safety of articles sent to the exhibition, the
         owners themselves must take the risk of exhibiting. Should any article be
         accidentally damaged, lost or stolen, the Directors will give all the assistance in
         their power toward the recovery, but will not make payment for the value
         thereof.

JUDGING

   14. Only authorized directors and committee members are allowed in the
       Buildings while Judging is being done. Any exhibitor who interferes with
       Judges while engaged in making their awards, either by conversation or under
       any pretence, will result in forfeiture of all prizes to which they might
       otherwise be entitled, and will be promptly excluded from competition.
       Decision of Judge is final; no appeal will be considered.
   15. Any exhibitor interfering with or using abusive language to the Judges may
       forfeit any prize money won by them and may be debarred from future shows
       at the discretion of the Directors.
   16. A Judge shall not award two first place ribbons, or two second place ribbons,
       etc. in any section of any class.
   17. Judges decision are final. Protests may be made against irregularity or breach
       of rules by any exhibitor or interested party. In case of protest, it must be
       made in writing to the Secretary, by 6:00 pm on the day the award was made,
       accompanied by a fee of $10.00 which will be retained by the Society if the
       protest is not sustained. The President and Vice-President shall be a
       committee to decide on the protest, and their decision is final.
   18. All Judges must be experienced in the class they are judging and may not be
       members of the Board of Directors.

PRIVACY POLICY

   19. Any information or photos collected by the Burford Agricultural Society
       regarding members, exhibitors, commercial exhibitors, sponsors, directors,
       and any other persons related directly to the business of the Burford
       Agricultural Society and the Burford Fair, will be solely used for the purpose of
       promotion of the Burford Agricultural Society and the Burford Fair; for
       processing payment of prize monies and other payments owed; for
       publication of the winner’s names in local papers; for promotion on
       www.burfordfair.ca; and for the maintenance of their files and data base. Any
       member, exhibitor, commercial exhibitor, sponsor or director realizes that
       when they agree to take part in the Burford Agricultural Society and the
       Burford Fair, that their information or photos may be published for these
       reasons only. None of this information whatsoever will be sold or transferred
       to any outside party for any reason.

Special Class Rules
    –     This is a CASH IN/CASH OUT SHOW ---NO CHEQUES!
    –     All Youth under 19 years old must wear an approved helmet while on a horse
          anywhere on Burford Agricultural Property even if on a lead line.
    –     All Competitors must have a valid 2018 Burford Fair Membership prior to
          participating in the Show. Fair Membership - $10.00. If Fair Membership is
          not shown at gate, an admission is charged (strictly enforced)
    –     Any individual providing transport of horses must also have a membership
          or pay at the Gate.
    –     The show will be a Burford Saddle Club point award show. Exhibitors DO NOT
          have to be a member of Burford Saddle Club to exhibit but must have a day
          membership $5.00 to Burford Saddle Club.
    –     Each section must have at least 5 Competitors to have added payout from 1st
          – 5th place.
    –      All Youth and Open Classes added payout and prorated.

LIVESTOCK ENTRIES

    1.    All helpers, friends and owners of a horse or horses will be required to have a
          valid Burford Agricultural Society Membership or to pay gate admission for
          entry to the Fairgrounds. To obtain a Membership card in advance please
          contact the Secretary at info@burfordfair.ca or 519-449-5694.
    2.    No entry refunds for scratches in Horse Shows unless a certificate from the
          Show Veterinarian is presented.
    3.    All livestock shall be free of disease and accompanied by a certificate of health
          or vaccination, if applicable. They are subject to inspection by the Show
          Veterinarian, who has power to remove exhibit from the grounds.

Special Class Rules
    –     All animals to be entered no later than Thursday October 5th, having
          registration papers available prior to the start of the show.
    –     Entrants will pay a $10.00 Burford Agricultural Society membership fee, prior
          to the event or $10.00 gate entry fee which will be transferred to a
          membership by the show secretary.
    –     All animals must be on the grounds by 9 a.m. for health and tattoo checks.
    –     Important: Please state on your entry form the number of pens required to
          ensure enough pens are available.
    –     Animals must pass mandatory health check prior to the show. If no vet is
          available a committee of three in good standing with the Canadian Goat
          Society shall perform the health check. Animals failing to pass or arriving too
          late for inspection cannot be shown.
    –     Each breeder is allowed only two animals per class, except the milking classed
          where a breeder will be allowed three animals in two sections. Only 2 prizes
          per exhibitor will be awarded per class.
    –     All “C.G.S rules shall govern this show.

                                RULES & REGULATIONS

1.   Contestants must be a resident of Canada for two years.
2.   The age limit for contestants in the competition is 17 years of age as of August 15,
     2018 (must be 18 years of age for the following CNE Pageant held in August)
3.   Contestants must meet 3 of the following qualifications:
          •    Attend school in Brant County
          •    Volunteer in Brant County
          •    Resident of Brant County
          •    Participated in Sports in Brant County
          •    Worked in Brant County
4.   Contestants must be good character, single, never married or divorced and either
     male or female.
5.   Previous winners cannot compete in the Burford Fair Ambassador Competition.
6.   Contestants cannot enter a second similar competition which would interfere
     should you be chosen as this year’s Burford Fair Ambassador.
7.   The Burford Fair Ambassador must abide by the rules and regulations as set out
     here and in the requirements of the Ambassador.
