DkIT welcomes mature students (aged 23 and over on Jan 1st of year of

high-quality work placement opportunities to more than 900 students
each year. These placements are designed to allow you to get a head start

The Sports and Societies office in DkIT offers a range of student based activities and assists
in the development of more than 50 clubs and societies. The office employs a GAA Co-ordinator,
part-time Soccer Co-ordinator, Rugby Development Officer and a number of other coaches.

facility, provides a variety of fitness, sport

Selecting
Your Level
DkIT offers different levels of qualifications in line with the National
Framework of Qualifications and there is a high level of flexibility with
regard to points of entry along ones study path. At undergraduate level,
the following awards can be made at DkIT:
Higher Certificate:
This is a NFQ Level 6 qualification and normally takes 2 years of full-time study.
LEVEL 6 Successful completion of a Higher Certificate may provide entry to an ordinary
Bachelor’s degree.
Ordinary Bachelor’s Degree:
LEVEL 7 This is a NFQ Level 7 qualification which usually takes 3 years of full-time study.
At DkIT we offer an extensive range of BA and BSc Degrees.
Honours Bachelor’s Degree:
This is a NFQ Level 8 qualification which can take 3 or 4 years of full-time study.
LEVEL 8 At DkIT we offer 22 Honours Degrees across a wide selection of courses. Successful
completion of an Honours Bachelor Degree will mean students are eligible to continue
to postgraduate at DkIT.
Postgraduate:
DkIT has a range of postgraduate opportunities available to students with our offering in
LEVEL 9/10 this area is growing each year. DkIT has a Strategic Alliance with Dublin City University
(DCU) which supports both institutes’ ambition research agenda and ensures greater
access and progression opportunities for learners, from all backgrounds.
Add-On courses are a continuation course from Higher Certificate to Bachelors and Bachelors to Honours
Bachelors. These courses are linked to certain undergraduate courses within the college. When considering your
course, it is also advisable to check out the add-on option course options also available to you.
