2 School Uniform – Boys (First to Fifth Form) General Appearance A smart appearance is expected at all times. Hair must be of a simple conventional style and of reasonable length. Dyed or excessively gelled hair is unacceptable.

Jewellery and friendship bands are not permitted. Shirts can be short or long-sleeved. T-shirts, if worn under shirts, should be plain white.

Trousers Plain dark grey (not black)   Socks Dark grey or black   Shoes Black   Leather polishable shoes of simple conventional style. Suede, patent leather, or canvas shoes are not allowed; neither are boots or shoes with coloured logos. Coat   Outdoor coats should be without large logos and long enough to cover the blazer. Waist length jackets are not allowed. Denim, leather and corduroy are not suitable.

4 School Uniform – Boys (Sixth Form) General Appearance To mark their growing independence and maturity, Sixth Formers are given a degree of flexibility in uniform matters. They are therefore allowed to wear their own suits at Reigate Grammar School. Accordingly, they are expected to take pride in what they wear, and to be smartly and soberly dressed. Haircuts must be of a conventional length and style and boys should be clean shaven. same colour and fabric.

5 School Uniform – Girls (First to Fifth Form) General Appearance A smart appearance is expected at all times. Hair must be of a simple conventional style and tied back, if shoulder length or longer. Dyed hair is unacceptable. Jewellery and friendship bands are not permitted. One gold or silver stud may be worn in each lower ear lobe. Make up and nail varnish must not be worn and if girls do so, they will be asked to remove it. Vests, if worn under blouses, should be plain white and not visible below the bottom of the blouse.

Skirt Navy   Nimbus, style no 40. Skirts must be knee length and not rolled up. Tights/Socks   Tights, if worn, must be navy or black. White ankle socks may be worn (First to Third Forms); flesh coloured foot socks or white ankle socks may be worn (Fourth to Fifth Forms). Girls should have a spare pair of tights with them. Shoes Black   Flat-heeled polishable leather shoes of simple conventional style that provide adequate support and which have straps or laces. Suede, patent leather or canvas shoes are not allowed; neither are boots or shoes with coloured logos.

Coat   Outdoor coats should be without large logos and long enough to cover the blazer.

7 School Uniform – Girls (Sixth Form) General Appearance To mark their growing independence and maturity, Sixth Formers are given a degree of flexibility in uniform matters.

They are therefore allowed to wear their own suits at Reigate Grammar School. Accordingly, they are expected to take pride in what they wear, and to be smartly and soberly dressed. Hair should be of a conventional style and only dye of a natural colour is allowed. Foundation or cover-up make-up only is permissible. Simple stud earrings are permitted, as is a simple plain necklace. Item Compulsory Optional Any Retailer Swots Only Notes Plain Formal Business Suit Dark blue, dark grey or black   Trousers/skirt and jacket to match, i.e. same colour and fabric. Skirts must be knee length and not figure- hugging.

Shirt   Plain white cotton business shirt with collar. The shirt should have buttons at the front. Underwear should not be visible through the shirt material. V-neck Jumper or Cardigan Dark blue, dark grey or black   Tights Plain black, navy or flesh coloured   Patterned tights must not be worn. Shoes Dark blue or black   Leather polishable shoes of simple conventional style, with a sensible heel. Suede, patent leather, or canvas shoes are not allowed; neither are boots or shoes with coloured logos. PE/Games Sixth Formers are expected to wear appropriate clothing for the activity in which they are involved, subject to the approval of the Director of Sport.
