This report will provide a good overview of the various engineering companies in the UK and
USA, you will get information about their expertise and main focus.
You will also find some contact details that may be important in your strategy for getting in

3Arion Blue
Arion is a full-service, multi-discipline EPCM contractor. They provide project management,
engineering, procurement, and construction management services to the Energy industry.
They address the upstream offshore and conventionals and shale oil & gas facilities onshore
in addition to midstream.
They are a smaller engineering company consisting to a large degree of ex-Wood people that
have been growing fast the later year, except and adjustment in 2020.
They don’t take on entire field development engineering projects, but do smaller parts as
subcontractor to other larger EPC’s and are active in the MMO market. It can be mentioned
that they currently do maintenance and modification engineering for seven of Oxy’s
(previously Anadarko’s) facilities in the Gulf of Mexico.
They are also involved in subsea tieback projects, among others for Oxy.

4- Detail engineering and design for Murphy Oil’s FPS for King’s Quay was awarded early
October 2020.
Scope: Includes engineering and design of the entire King’s Quay FPS topsides with complete
oil, water, and gas processing trains. The project scope also includes the design of the
topsides interfaces to the hull, lifesaving equipment, marine and utility systems,
accommodations, crane foundations, and other appurtenances. Continuing with the same
design approach used during the development of the Delta House FPS, the intent is to
incorporate design flexibility into all processing equipment for the King’s Quay FPS to achieve
an optimal design for handling a broad range of reservoir characteristics.

Bechtel
Bechtel is a large full value chain EPC company. Up to recently, their energy business unit
covered upstream oil & gas and LNG. Over the last years, Bechtel made a decision not to
have upstream oil and gas as a separate entity, however, they are active within LNG,
transmission and storage (pipelines), nuclear power, combines/simple cycle and renewables.
LNG is of interest as LNG export terminals appear to be a growing market in the U.S.
Although oil and gas is not a separate entity in the organization, they still have upstream and

- Was awarded pre-FEED for FPU for BHP’s Trion in March 2020 in partnership with Houston
Offshore Engineering and Wood. HOE will cover the hull and Wood topsides. This partnership is
one of three constellations that are doing pre-FEED for Trion.

Subsea7
Murphy Exploration and Production Co.—USA has contracted Subsea 7 to provide the
subsea installation services for the Samurai and Khaleesi/Mormont developments in the
Green Canyon area of the Gulf of Mexico.
This contract covers the tieback of seven subsea wells to the King’s Quay FPS that will be
moored about 282 km (175 mi) south of New Orleans.
The project scope includes engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and
commissioning of all subsea equipment including PLETs, PLEMs, umbilicals and distribution
hardware, production and export flowlines and jumpers, as well as the wet tow in the Gulf of
Mexico to the fields and mooring system installation of the semisubmersible FPS.
Project management and engineering will start immediately at its offices in Houston.
Fabrication of the flowlines and risers will take place at the company’s spoolbase in
Ingleside, Texas, with offshore operations occurring in 2021.
Subsea 7 will provide a single point contract for the SURF and mooring work scopes on this
project.

Projects:
- Genesis Oil & Gas was awarded a pre-FEED contract from BHP for preliminary design of a
semisubmersible FPU for the Trion development in the Mexican waters of the Gulf of Mexico on
April 7.
- The team in Houston shall execute all pre-FEED work. The design effort is shared with
subcontractor Exmar Offshore Co. who will propose their field proven opti-hull design as part of
the scope. Genesis and other parts of the TechnipFMC offshore global teams will contribute with
their delivery expertise.
- BHP and partner Pemex have made three awards for this competitive pre-FEED phase which
includes design of the topsides, hull, mooring and risers. McDermott/Wood/Houston Offshore
Engineering and SBM Offshore are the two other constellations.
- On October 1, 2020, TechnipFMC was awarded a large contract by Exxon Mobil Corporation
subsidiary Esso Exploration and Production Guyana Limited (“EEPGL”) for the subsea system for
the proposed Payara project. TechnipFMC will manufacture and deliver the subsea production
system, including 41 enhanced vertical deep water trees and associated tooling, six flexible risers
and ten manifolds along with associated controls and tie-in equipment.
- In the second half of 2019, TechnipFMC was awarded iEPCI constracts for subsea systems for
Shell’s Perdido Phase 2 and Shell’s PowerNap (subsea tieback to Olympus)

FEED for BHP’s Trion (in the Mexican part of GoM). If they are successful, Wood will do the
engineering.
- They are finishing up a couple of tie-back projects for Oxy and another two for Talos Energy.
- Wood was working actively to win work for Equinor’s Bay du Nord Project. Those activities are
currently idling.

A small to medium size UK company who have been established for more than 20 years and
specialise in consultancy / engineering for Conceptual and Front-End engineering in both Oil
& Gas and Renewables. They also undertake small EPC projects and in addition to their
London (Wimbledon) and Great Yarmouth locations have recently opened an office in

Petrofac is a UK provider of oilfield services to the international oil and gas industry. It is
registered in Jersey, with its main corporate office on Jermyn Street, London. It has
