Welcome to Australia
Australia is a land like no other. Known for its wide open spaces, beautiful beaches, and
natural wonders, a trip to “the Outback” is one to remember. Australia is the sixth largest
country by land mass, comparable to the size of the United States. Completely surrounded
by seas, most of Australia’s rainfall is around the coast, while much of the centre is arid or
semi-arid. Contrary to what stereotypes suggest, Australia is not completely hot. The north
is hot and tropical, while the south is sub-tropical and mild, with some regions dropping
below freezing in winter. Due to Australia’s location in the southern hemisphere, winter is
June to August, while Summer is December to February.
Horsham is located in western Victoria, approximately 300km north-west of Melbourne. In
2016, its population was 16,395. Horsham is the ideal base for exploring mountains,
bushland and waterways. The Wimmera River passes through the city and offers walking
tracks which visitors can stroll along and immerse themselves in nature, with plenty of
wildlife and ancient red gums lining the river. The Grampians National Park is a short drive
away and boasts breathtaking views, lookouts, waterfalls and picnic areas. It is also host to
the Halls Gap Zoo, which is the perfect location to see Australian wildlife, with 160 species
of native and exotic mammals, reptiles and birds.
The Horsham Motorcycle Complex is situated approximately 5km from Horsham via the Henty Highway. The Horsham Motorcycle Club is renowned for its fast and flowing track, ongoing improvements to its facilities and high quality events held over previous years. The circuit is 1.7km long and 8-10 metres wide for the majority of the track, allowing for many passing opportunities. The start grid features an earth start pad and 40 self-penalising gates. Obstacles include tabletops, step ups, step downs, ski jumps, triple-up, berms and off camber corners.
