Introductory gymnastics classes geared to the developmental stages of children ages 16-23 months (Tumble
Babies), 24 to 35 months (Tumble Tots), 36 to 48 months (Tumble Bees). Children and parents will enjoy
exploratory activities followed by instruction with emphasis placed on large motor skills and basic gymnastic
concepts, accomplished through music and varied activities on our agility and gymnastics apparatus.

♦INTRODUCTION TO GYMNASTICS: Movement education, basic tumbling skills and an introduction to gymnastics
apparatus as a basis for more formal gymnastics instructions and as a good foundation for other sports.

RVC REC Recreational Gymnastics Instruction:
Participants will receive instruction on the four women’s Olympic events: Floor Exercise, Uneven Bars,
Balance Beam and Vault. Gymnasts may also use the Tumble Trak for skill development.
Gymnast Attire: Jewelry Notice:

CrossFit Kids at The Rock is a functional strength and conditioning program designed especially for kids, utilizing
the revolutionary CrossFit method. We teach children about functional exercises that mimic the everyday movements
they do when they play- like pull, push, run throw, climb, lift and jump. We promote better nutrition and eating
habits and the development of greater self-confidence, leadership and teamwork skills. We focus on having fun,
building strong and healthy bodies and minds, and develop within your child a lifelong love of fitness.
This exciting program is for boys and girls ages 6-8 and 9-12 (1-hour class).
All classes are taught by CrossFit The Rock certified coaches.

Prepare your dog for the “social season” with an 9-week session of Dog Obedience classes, taught by Rena
Dershowitz. Group classes offer natural distractions, learn-by-example, and a comfortable environment for you
and your dog to grow. Three classes are offered weekly on Monday evenings.

ALL DOG HANDLERS MUST BE AT LEAST 17.
DESCRIPTION OF CLASSES:
Puppy Kindergarten: Puppies to adult dogs -structured for dogs with NO previous training
Basic Obedience: Class teaches essentials. Basic commands– walking on leash, sit and stay, lie down, stay
Classes are a bit more formal than puppy kindergarten.
Dogs need to be over 6 months old and have had previous beginner training.
K-9 Good Citizen/Fun Agility: For dog’s owners who have previously worked with Rena Dershowitz. All dogs
must be approved by instructor to be registered for the class.

Thursday, December 1: Village Tree Lighting The official opening of the
Holiday Season begins with the annual Village Tree Lighting Ceremony. The festive
event begins at 7:30pm at the Village Green. All faiths are welcome! Music &
community fellowship will continue until the arrival of Santa Claus via RVC Fire
Truck.
Annual Mitten & Hat Tree Once again the Recreation Department is re-
questing that residents share their warm holiday feelings by donating mittens and
hats of every color and size which will be hung on our “Mitten & Hat Tree.” To make
your donation, bring mittens and hats to the Rec. Office.
Tuesday, December 13 and Wednesday, December 14: North Pole Calling
Here’s an opportunity for your child age 4 through 2nd grade to speak on the
telephone with Santa Claus. A detailed flyer is available on

Sunday, December 18: Menorah Lighting
All faiths are invited to attend the lighting of the menorah at 5:30 pm at the Village
Green.
Monday, December 19: Chanukah Party
The National Council of Jewish Women will be holding their annual Chanukah Party
at the Recreation Center at 4:15pm– 5:30pm. All faiths are invited to attend & enjoy
the festivities. The party is a perfect holiday event for Pre- K through elementary
age children.

The Rockville Centre Recreation Department conducts the North Pole Calling program
to provide an opportunity for children ages 4 to 2nd grade to speak with Santa Claus.

Holiday Lights
Owners are invited to dig out their lights and decorations to showcase their holiday spirit and
traditions to win bragging rights for the Village’s third annual community-wide decorating
contest. Each home entered into the contest will be included on a community map that will be
available to residents who are encouraged to take a lights tour and cast their vote online at
www.rvcny.gov.
IMPORTANT DATES
December 5, 2022: Last day to register your home. A home may register in any one category of your
choosing and still be included in the “Best Block” category. To enter, please call the Recreation Center at
(516) 678-9238.
December 8, 2022: Participating homes should have their decorations completed.
December 9, 2022: Get your list of decorated homes at www.rvcny.gov and pile in the car with the
family to tour the light displays throughout the Village.
Voting will take place online at www.rvcny.gov from December 9, 2022 until December 14th at midnight.
December 16, 2022: Winning homes will be announced on the Village website and social media pages.
HOMES WILL BE JUDGED ON CURB APPEAL IN THE FOLLOWING CATEGORIES:
• Clark Griswold: Over the top lighting and decorations.
• Martha Stewart: Design elements that make Martha Stewart jealous.

Description
CPR & First Aid Anywhere Training is designed to meet the needs of workplaces, community organizations,
and universities and can train people in the lifesaving skills of CPR and First Aid in less than one hour.
During the training session, CPR and first aid skills are taught with the AHA’s research-proven practice-while-
watching technique. Participants will practice on a Mini Anne® Plus manikin while observing a demonstration
of the skills in the video.
The CPR Course is intended for anyone who wants to learn CPR and prefers to learn in an Instructor-led or
facilitated group environment. This course is for people who do not need a course completion card for a job or
other requirements. This course is ideal for community groups, parents, grandparents, caregivers, schools and
students, and others interested in learning
