Our students come from a range of low socio-economic backgrounds. We provide authentic partnerships that engage the whole school community in the life of the school through the work of our highly impactful school chaplain. This is evident through the significant representation of parents and carers at all school events including assemblies, ceremonies and celebrations. The Parent and Citizen Association plays a dynamic and supportive role within the school community. The school has a focus on learning and support provisions that provide targeted interventions that aim to maximise learning outcomes for our school community. Through the implementation of the Strategic Improvement Plan, the school aims to increase parental engagement in learning, achievement and educational pathways. Bennett Road implements a Positive Behaviour for Learning framework that is continuously adapted to support the changing educational, social, emotional and physical needs of all students to ensure that they are able to connect, succeed and thrive. Student expectations are explicitly taught and linked to the school motto of 'Respect For All', which encourages them to 'Move to Success'. This current school plan aims to refine the Positive Behaviour for Learning systems and practices, wellbeing interventions and the improvement of attendance rates for our targeted groups. Bennett Road has had a strong Literacy and Numeracy focus as part of the Early Action for Success (EAfS) initiative over the last 9 years. This initiative has formed a strong learning culture that supports teachers through professional learning in their development of high impact teaching strategies that cater for a diverse range of student learning needs. The school aims to continue the learning culture that has been established through EAfS to ensure the sustainability of personalised and responsive teaching and learning. The school provides a range of extra-curricular opportunities that develop the whole child and enable our students to excel through a range of different experiences. Throughout the process, we have consulted with the community including our Aboriginal community. Through our situational analysis, the school has identified system negotiated target areas in Reading and Numeracy. The school intends to focus on utilising triangulated data to identify learning achievement across internal and external student performance measures. Data will be used to inform a more integrated approach to programming across the school curriculum. The school seeks to innovate upon our current technological practices to foster the development of creative, critical thinking and problem solving skills. The school aims to improve student outcomes that cater for student diversity through the provision of professional learning and development for teachers.
